Prelude door panels? (speaker install)

Hey guys I just bought some JL component speakers for my prelude and im wondering how you get to the speakers in the door and the tweeters in the sides of the dash. Has anyone done this or know how they can help me do this? Thanks!!

Sure, there are 4 or 5 screws on the door panel, look carefully for them (one in the door handle cup, one in the lower rear corner, one in the area where the handle/lock switch is, etc..). Unscrew them, and start popping the panel out from the bottom working your way up, and it'll just lift up and out. Be careful, because the snap clips take a good bit of pressure, but don't be too forceful and break them. Not sure about the dimensions of the JL components, but most people have found aftermarket midbass drivers to not fit comfortably in the stock location without hacking up the plastic baffle (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it), options are cutting them some, removing entirely, or making a small spacer ring out of 1" MDF.

The tweeter pods just pop out too, pull out towards the center of the dash and that's it. Be careful not to lose the clips.

Reassembly is the reverse of removal.

You might have a problem with the driver hitting the window. Then you will need to make a new baffle, which I am in the process of doing

The trick is getting all the screws out, then reach on the bottum of the panel between the weather stripping and the metal door frame. There's a gap in there to slide your hands in. Then firmly pull outward to relase all the clips (then up and out.) Be sure to disconnect the wiring harnesses.

On my front speakers I had to take the stock platic basket that hold the stock speaker and cut off the back of it so the speaker with the larger magnet could fit. It was an easy job for the dremel.
