Power Freaking Windows

Ok guys, every honda owner i know is having problems with their power windows.

My one buds got a 97 accord and his windows barely go up and down anymore...sometimes you have to help em along to get them up in a hurry.

My other buds got a 2000 civic and his suck too.

Now mine take forever to get up; same with my sunroof closing. Sometimes the wipers have a hard time going across a dry window. Is this a bad case of crappy battery or does honda just suck at reliable, long lasting motors??

When was the last time you cleaned and greased the tracks?

just remove the motors and tracks. its not too easy to get them out since you're working within the door panels and have relatively little space.

just pull them out and see if they look messed up

Before you go ripping everything out of your doors I would strongly suggest greasing the tracks first. It isn't that difficult to do once you get the inside skin off. The motor may just be straining to push it up. Use a grease instead of WD40(or something similar) Grease will last longer and that's what is designed to be in there.

on the tracks on the side of the doors? This seems to be harder in hotter weather, i'm guessing its because the rubber is softer. Any pics of where?

not on the side of the doors. Inside the door skin. The tracks that run the window up and down. You can also do the outside but I don't think it would help much. Plus it would attract dirt being in an open spot. I don't have any pics but I do have this...

The track is what is right under the window. That is what you want to grease. It freed up my windows dramatically.

isn't that called the regulator?

I'm gonna give that a try and prolly grease up the tracks on the sides of the windows, the one in front and in back, i'm thinking its the rubber in those that is making it harder in the summer to roll up and down the windows

thanks cliff

yes. It is the big X thing. It runs in the track that goes parallel to the base of the window.

take off your door covers, from the inside, and reach for it.

Check it out and let me know if you run into any problems.

get some little kid from around the block to do it, they have slim enough hands...you should be able to reach it your self though.
