Do you guys think I should powder coat my valve cover a glossy deep red? sort of like the AEM CAI red or should I chrome it? I have a anodized blue DC sports bar, blue AEM CAI, blue NGK wired and thinking of changing some of my hose techniques colors. What do you all think??
I have a Candy Apple Red powdercoated one..I originally wanted chrome..but this still looks good, it was a great deal...nice and shiny, but I still might go chrome...
With the colors you have you should go chrome

Alex, I know you have seen these pics before but here they are again. I entered my car in a big car show in Jersey this Saturday night so I should get some new pics soon. I should get a few really good shots since it will be under all the florescent lighting.
On a side note, the chrome is very easy to keep clean. If you spill some oil, wipe it up and put a layer of wax on it and it will shine like new - no hassel.
Thanks for the pics!! looking good as always!! how much did you pay for your chrome plated cover? around 80 bucks? by the way.. is your radiator hose the sleeve kind or the entire replacement? Thanks!
oh yeah forgot to ask you.. did you chrome your throttle body too? Are those hose techniques silicon hoses? did you get the show kit or the starter kit? or custom?
It cost $200 to chrome my valve cover. I took it to a Harley Davidson shop and it was triple chromed. The triple dip makes it look deeper, it has a darker black look to it as opposed to a single dip which has a blue tint.
I couldn't find a "real" braided radiator hose kit so I ended up with the sleeve kit from Pep Boys - $30.
I'm sure by now there is a real braided kit available for our cars. If you find one, let me know because I'm interested.

I didn't have anything else chromed except for the valve cover. If you get yours chromed, don't forget to have the valve cover bolts chromed as well, I forgot.
I think for next season, I'm going to have my valve cover bolts, throttle body, intake manifold, upper portion of my header, alternator and water pump chromed. At least I have a good six months to save up the $$$$$$.
My silicone hose kit is from RS Akimoto. It was called a "driveway kit" which comes with three different size hoses. You can replace whatever you feel like with this kit because you cut them to the size you need. It's is a universal kit - $35
It's still for sale. If someone comes along and gives me what I want for the car, then I will sell it. I won't go any lower than $16,000 so I just excepted the fact that I will probably have her the rest of my life and keep dumping money into it - it's such an addiction.
Nice ride mark - I acutally like the chrome valve cover - just love clean engine bays=] You could invest in those chrome caps from STR - that would definitley complement your Shiny engine=].
is your triple chrome the nickel/copper/chrome? i live in sj, cali and the guy said 80 bucks for triple coat chrome which is nickel/copper/chrome (like the one you see on rims/bumpers) and warranty for one year.
I think the copper coating was before the nickel coat but I could have gotten it backwards.
If you can get it for $80 then that is a great deal. Just ask to see some of his work before you actually hand it over. I got to see a few custom Harley's that were practically all chrome so I knew he did good work. The reason mine might have been more money is because the Harley shop is a middle man who has to get paid also. If I would have went to the chromer directly it would have been cheaper. Maybe that is what you are doing.
The only difference I see is that I have a lifetime warranty on the chrome.
Phamine, thanks for the compliment, the STR dress up kit is also on my list for next season, including the radiator cap cover
