I was driving at 6am on the freeway, it was raining, and suddenly out of nowhere I see like a 3 1/2 inch deep pothole (more like a pondhole). It came out of nowhere..and there was construction going on where it was a single-lane-only portion of the freeway, so I wasn't really able to swerve and avoid as I would have hit the wall. The lane was about as narrow as the width of an 18 wheeler + 2 feet.
The impact sounded so bad I thought my rim was definitely gone, but shortly after the car was kinda hard to control..so it turns out I lost my front driver side tire only. This really sucks, especially since my proxes are only 5 months old. It caused an inch gash on the tire so it lost its air almost instantly. Replaced it with a Sumitomo tire

Anyone think it's possible that Toyo might reimburse me, or at least the city? A friend of mine told that he went over a pothole and bent his rim, and the city bought him a new one.
A before pic, may this tire "RIP"
