POLL: H23 vs. JSPEC B16

Hey guys,
My friend's friend recently challenged me to a race with his new car: a 90 Integra GS with a JSPEC B16 engine swap.... He seems to think that the integra will beat my h23. What do you think???? I have I/H/E plugs and wires, etc. and he has just H/E. I told him I would smoke him, but I just wanted to know if anybody knew the hp specs on the JDM B16 to see if he actually had a chance....

that engine only had 170 hp and 116 ft-lb of torque.

i raced my friends JDM B16 in a 1992 Integra with i/h/e. i completely raped him from a 40 mph (no room to stop, i would have kiled him there too). it made him wonder if the $2K he spent on that JDM b16 swap was worth it

btw my prelude is a 1993 Prelude Si with i/h/e/5-speed. and you might also want to post in the rigth forum

Probably would be driver based. I don't think either or you will smoke each other, though. The Japanese B16 has 170hp and like 130 torque, but then again the Integra is 200lb lighter.

I guess it would be pretty close then, because the h23 only has 160 hp.....It's hard to believe that Honda could squeeze 170 hp out of that 1.6L motor. Impressive

Yeah, the Jap spec engine doesn't have all the smog crap so it has 10hp more than the US spec B16. You should still beat the Integra, though because of the extra torque of the H23

I don't have much respect for b16's after seeing them at the track. I have beat CRXs and civic hatches with b16's and they have a much better power to weight ratio. Maybe they all sucked at driving but this wasn't a one time thing. I don't think if I have seen any n/a b16 put down a respectable 60ft so unless your friend is the one of the few that can actually launch his car well I would say you will win.

You'll beat him. It's all about torque

We just swapped a JDM B16 into my buddies 97 civic ex and its pretty quick. We haven't lined 'em up yet on the line, but just toying around back and forth we're pretty close. Both have intake and exhaust.

We may have them edged out in stock form but if i'm not mistaken, the B16 is very responsive to mods.
