You weren't running a turbo or nitrous at the time? WOW - how much water were you driving through? Sorry about your loss, but the details might help save some of your fellow H23 luders....
knock sensor is on the block, above the oil filter, and right below the head. It takes a huge socket to get out 27mm i think...

IMO the bypass valve is crap, in theory it seams’s it would work though. Although, the video on the AEM website is crap because they totally submerge the filter in water causing the butterfly valves to open in the “bypass valve�. Now how often will your filter be totally submerged? Does it still work when your filter gets doused in water?
The bypass valve will only work if your filter gets completely submerged. So its worthless...u shouldnt be driving in that much water to begin with...the stone gard should do a good job of keeping and splashed water out...u just need to be carefull. How did ur intake such up enough water to do that???
