So I was a little bored this weekend and decided to try a little engine painting. And before anyone says it, I know I need to paint the valve cover, thats next on the list.

I'm not really sure about the heat shield, it didn't really turn out like I thought it would. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?
I personally don't like the valve cover to be red... I think think it looks perfectly fine stock. The heat shield looks okay....I mean you definitely did a good job. Maybe instead of yellow, I would have done a gray... It's all just my personal preference though!

Thanks, haven't tried painting anything in a while so I fairly pleased with how it turned out. I'm not really feeling the yellow either. Grey is a good idea, defiantly needs to be a more neutral color.

Yeah, the yellow was definitely not the best choice. I agree with Lurch...try gray. I'm going to paint mine just a flat black and when the H22 finally comes, I'll get a CF plug cover.
LOL. I have to put in my kaizenspeed bs elimanator kit this weekend, and try and get the h22 in my car so i can get tuned next weekend. I ordered my header, hopefully it will be here this weekend. im going to try out a camp1320 header.
I personally prefer the silver parts to remain silver, otherwise everything tends to blend into each other too much. I would have also reprayed the heat shield silver instead of black....that's just my opinion though.
cover with arisol aircraft remover. let sit for 20 mine.
put on nitrile gloves and use steel wool while the striper is on it to break ever thing up. rinse and repeat (literal rinse with water and dry it off
hit it with a red sotch brite pad the rinse with mineral sprits
and sand donw the lettering with some 220 and then a 400 grit wet sand to make it purdy and shinny
we are now 1 hour into it
then use a high temp engine enamel read the instructions if it needs primer prime it. 2-3 coats primer with 7=10 min in between coats
now at 1 hour 45 min
then 3-5 coats of color with 10 min in between
now 2.5-3 hours
let sit for 1 hour. come back and take a loose razor blade and lay it at a 45 degreen angle on the lettering. and drag it the direction you have it leaning so you are not cutting in.
now let it sit for another 3 hours and reinstall. if you can let it go over night i would but you will be fine.
What paint did you use for the heatshield? I painted mine last May with some 'ceramic' based spray paint and the paint is slowly flaking off, probably from the extreme heat
