paint prob.

I don't know if any of you have incountered this problem before. You know that little strip of metal between the door and before the roof begins? Well on my old lude and the new 4th gen I got, I incountered the same problem of them looking like ****. Moister gets in under this thick looking clear coat. Has anyone done any DIY to fix this problem. Can I just maybe sand down to metal and repaint it?
