Paint job or Turbo kit?

ok guys. when my tax returns come in i will have nearly $3k saved up and will be looking to do something to my car. some of my paint is faded on the hood and trunk and small dents here and there. my car is also slow as balls. no mods to it. what would you guys do with the money? the car is paid off by the way and dont have any other bills so paying bills isnt an option. paint or turbo kit?

well, im getting the CF lip and a CF hood, so i dont want the rest of the car to look like azz my friend has a turbo teg gsr and i love the feeling of the turbo but not sure how reliable it is. he blew his motor up once when his wastegate failed and spiked to 30 psi all the sudden. im not even sure if $3k will get everything i need for a turbo set-up.

Turbo to me is iffy... I always wanted to turbo my h23a, but now I chose to do a h22a swap. The h23a had too many miles, plus what I've heard from other's experiences turned me off. My bro has had a turbo eclipse RS, a turboed teg gsr, and now another turbo eclipse gst. All had problems, small, major whatever minus the gst that he currently owns, its only mildly modified. Its just alot of maintenance, too much for me. Getting a swap is like renewing your car cuz u got a low mileage motor. Plus that has plenty of oumph. With a turbo, yea its going to haul azzzz, and theres nothing like a bov, but you run the risk of blowing your engine, and if you don't you are significantly reducing the engine's life. ot to mention reliablity issues. Theres the option of rebuilding your engine, which is even more $$. I would just choose a paint job just because of personal preference, plus you would get leftover money. *cough swap. I can get a good custom paintjob here for about 800-1200 (yes jams included), but I happen know the shop. Im getting my pj after my swap.

I've never heard of anyone building a daily driven, reliable yet powerful FI car for $3000, more like $5-10k. Unless you have a lot of experience and knowledge and access to a cheap dyno for tuning I would skip the turbo. Would be nice though...

Honestly if you only have 3 grand to play with I would go with the paint job. There's usually lots of money to be spent if you go FI.

I honestly don't think you have enough money for a turbo set up. How many miles are on your Si? I wouldn't run more than 6psi. And if you want to run more boost, you have to take into account, the price of an engine build. If you really want to go "go" over "show," you have enough $ for a h22a swap and a nitrous kit.

I've blown a few H23's with my old turbo H23's and I did pretty much everything by the book. If I had the money I would do it again

think turbo it is. if i blow something i will have more money later down the road to fix it. this is just all i have saved up in a month. im going to want to sleeve the block later, but for now, 6 psi would be fine. i dont wanna do a swap. i love the h23. and it has low miles (according to eric). shadowz made my mind up. thanks peeps.
