Pads and Rotors

I was thinking now for a while to change the rotors cuz they were never changed before and they're messed up really bad especially the rear ones). So my only question is what should i buy? The blank brembo ones or should i go with the brembo drilled/slotted ones from ebay.

Ebay Rotors

I'm unsure if i should risk buying those ones and more than that i don't know how much will drilled and slotted help. Oh and what pads should i buy? I heard many good things about hawk but i don't know yet. I'm planning on buying the parts next week so any kind of advice would be really helpful.

Brembo blanks, for sure. They are solid with little risk of craking, as opposed to drilled rotors. Slotted are just pretty. What you really want is the maximum surface area to generate friction, which is what blanks offer. And Brembo is the best. Sorry --- just my two cents.

Talk to Mike aka Mike95lude bout your rotor and pad needs. He's offered us a good deal on them.

yeah just axxis ultimates. seems like you don't go track/autox often so you don't need "great" pads.

my experience with high performance pads are they dust like crazy, squeek, and need to warm up before they really grab

I would like to get into autox but not right now. Anyways, i have this 2001 Altima and the braking is amazing. All i know about the pads is that they are stock and ceramic but i would love that kind of braking on my lude. But ya i want something with as little dust as posssible. I'll just get rotors and everything from this guy Mike. Anyways thanks alot for help guys.

Honestly, for rotors, get the cheap Autozone ones. They're cheap as hell and have warranty. Many autox & track guys use those. Just couple them with some decent pads like the ultimates that Peter mentioned.

lol billy uses duralast rotors on his track prelude

and a 2001 altima is going to be better since it probably has a better ABS setup.

also if you just go back and replace some stuff, i'm sure you will get your braking power back. i noticed it whenever i changed brake master cylinders/brake lines/new pads/flush/new rotors.

its pretty easy to lock up the tires (not a good thing per se but you get the idea) and btw, i have no abs on the 4th gen

Yeah, rotors do not make the brakes. Good fluid, pads & a bled brake system do.

I also went with Brembo rotors (cross-drilled) and they were surprisingly inexpensive. I'm just running mine with stock pads until these pads wear out, then I'll upgrade the pads. Even with the stock pads they made a big difference. I'd recommend the Brembos highly!

Thanks for the recommendations to us guys .

Just so you know those "Brembo" Cross-drilled and Slotted Rotors all over eBay are just Brembo blanks that have been drilled and slotted by a 3rd party machine shop, not Brembo. The Real Brembo rotors that are slotted or cross-drilled look much different and are called the Brembo "Sport" rotors and come in Cross-drilled OR Slotted only.....Brembo does not make both slotted and drilled on the same rotor. Another dead giveaway whether they are authentic Brembo or not is if the color of the rotor coating looks like you see here:

http://www.brembo.com/US/Performance/SportBrakeSystems/

These are the real Brembo Sport rotors (slotted or cross-drilled) and as you can see they have a bronze/gold tinted finish on them, instead of normal silver like the Brembo blanks come standard and not suprisingly so do the eBay "Brembo" drilled and slotted rotors. We've had many customers come to us after purchasing the fake eBay Brembo drilled and slotted rotors and having problems with them warping or developing hairline cracks around the cross-drilled holes.

I got a quick question? I remeber seeing Cobalt Friction rotors which are amazing since they dont rust due to the electromagnetic crap they spray on but is there any other rotors that wont rust and look like ****...cuz mine HAHA i seriously need to get new ones though.

if you drive it after it rains.......shouldn't be a problem. if not, garage it

For some reason rust just keeps bothering me. I got clean looking lude with nice rims...and bam there's rust on the rotors. Though I decided to go with Brembo Blanks and Project U's pad or Axxis.
