p/s pulley nut

so i get my aem pulleys and i wanna put them on.

first step...let's try to remove the p/s pulley nut
it looks to be rusted and i can't break it loose.

go to store and buy some nut breaker stuff

spray nut breaker stuff on and watch the nut unscrew... wow like magic

not really. i hit the nut a few times after spraying it, then i proceed to attempt to break the nut from the shaft.

it breaks loose!! keep ratcheting keep ratcheting. what's going on? why isn't the nut unscrewing?

hey what's this coming out of the end of the nut?? ohh it's thread.....how wonderful

so now i stripped the bolt or nut and the pulley isn't coming off....
it says in the helms that the bolt is left hand threaded so does that mean you have to turn it clockwise to unscrew?? i was going counterclockwise (towards the front of the car) to unscrew. on some other post someone said to go counterclockwise..so i did that.

what do you mechanics think? apologize for the long post, i'm just really ticked of stupid s*** like this has to happen.

power-steering pulley nut is reverse thread. Normal threads mean "righty tighty, lefty loosey". Reverse thread means you would be turning the nut counter-clockwise. Good luck

Also, you may have problems with the alternator pulley. I suggest you remove the whole alternator from the car and use an air gun to take it off - otherwise take to a friend/mechanic with an air gun & they can help take it off.

yeah maybe it's different for the 5th gens but somone posted in the writeup to go counter clockwise, it wasn't the writer though someone else. i was able to get the nut off but the whole deal is ruined. the nut scraped my pulley up somehow and all of the teeth on the pulley were sheered off. now i gotta get a new pump...i don't feel like rebuilding mine.

so for future reference....i should probably follow the helms manual next time
