in my quest for better fuel economy (18-19 mpg at the moment) i wanna replace the o2 sensor (93 Si w/ 116k miles). where is it located and what replacement should i use? i read somewhere to use bosch
Its located at the bottom of your heat shield, covering your headers. I've seen them on Nopi. They're kinda $$ but if it needs to be replaced. i dont know how to get it out though.
it's located on your headers underneath the car before the collector. It's on the top side of the headers, you can't miss it. If you ever changed you own oil and oil filter you seen it a million times but probably didn't know that it was the O2 sensor. You need a 22mm wrench and some strength to get it off. It will come off, don't worry. There was anti-sieze lube put on the threads so it won't be stuck on there. I just changed mine a week ago.
i tried a couple years ago, but they may have updated since then. i just opted for factory honda. engineered for the car, fine with me. you may also try the autometer, but im not sure of the fit. may need a custome bung welded in.

if you change it dont get a bosch unit, they are pieces of ****, i had one and it only put out 2 readings, stoich and full rich. get either a NGK or a honda sensor. carparts.com has the ngk sensors
There is a specified torque of 33lb-ft for this sensor. I had to get a crow foot wrench/socket and calculate the offset for my torque wrench. One good thing is that 22mm happens to be .00885 inches smaller than 7/8 inches, so a 7/8 wrench will fit in this case. I also went the factory part route because, very strangely, all the local parts places wanted more than the dealer. Plus, I didn't have to screw with the connector being wired right.
