oxyegn sensor?

hey 92 prelude SR here with 192,000km's on it

Question: Would a faulty oxygen sensor cause my car to idle really rough? i'm pretty sure my oxygen sensor is done cause my check engine light is on and it gave me code 2... but when my car idles low it smells of gas and emissions i think... what do you guys thing? O2 sensor?

if your CEL pulled an O2 sensor code, it most likely needs to be replaced. If it's not working, it can't read your outgoing exhaust and tell the engine if there's too much, or not enough oxygen in it, that could be a reason why your exhaust smells rich of gas. If it pulled that code, replace it.

YES i had this happen. it made my car almost stall...but no CEL. i replaced it and everything was great again.

Does anyone know if the O2 sensor if bad can affect the NOX part of the CA emissions test?

if the 02 sensor is bad it can affect all emissions since your ECU no longer has a way of measuring the A/F ratio.

Thanks for everyones help. I just barley failed the NOX test so I will replace my O2 sensor and see what happens. Once again thanks.

02 sensor

I have gutted out my cat, and 45 min later my engine check light came on and I reseted the radio fuse left it out for 3 min and it did the same, it came on. I thank i damaged the 02 sensor somehow. Now Im runnin wit an Hi flow cat and still does the same. Can someone tell me wats goin on. Thanx..... I have a 5th gen.
