I don't remember them being covers. They are attached to the bottom sides of the seats.

From What I know most automotive seats are basically seat covrs that are attached with hog rings on the underside. You would probably have to remove the entire seat to make sure, but even in 5 million dollar business jets the leather is nothing more than a fancy seat cover attached to the bottom with rods and hog rings (I used to work at Cessna aircraft, and I've also been to raytheon [beech] and this is how both of them do it...)

There is a company that makes replacement leather covers that you replace in this fashion relatively cheaply (like 500 bucks for dual buckets) and they list the prelude in their products... I'll try to find the site again and post the link...

If you got the tools it shouldn't be a problem...

cutters, hog rings and hog ring plyers....... whatever you need to take the seat out if the car (I am assuming that this makes the whole procedure a LOT easier)

Just make sure to remember where everything is so you can put it back right

putting it back together can be a real pain. make sure you keep track of how you disassembled it and also keep the cloth tight!

I recently feel like changing my cloth seats to leather like seats, and I realized that it is just the cover. So, is it possible to buy just the leather covers and put it on my seat MYSELF?

Or, did anybody ever sew (or know how to sew) their own seat covers?

Please let us know.

leatherseats.com has kits for the prelude and a ton of collors you can pick from, plus like three different styles to choose from (like solid, two tone and and two tone insert) they also have a couple suedes and like two or three perforated colors. They aren't horribly expensive for leather... like 680 for front and back in a prelude... and they look pretty nice
