Ordinary for a code 12?

Pulled my code the other day and its a 12 (EGR) but in all the other threads I read about EGR and code 12 it never sounds like my car, but maybe they just left out details. My cel would only come on once the car was fully heated up, and only while I was driving under normal conditions. Like if I was flooring it the whole time, it wouldnt come on.

I was kind of just hoping that how specific the light is could tell me more about the problem, like if I could narrow it down even more to a specific part of the EGR. Ideas?

a couple things you can check/do:
clean out the valve well with brake cleaner
make sure that the electrical connecter is secure
make sure that the vacuum routing is correct

most often the valve just needs to be cleaned, once you clean it the cel goes away.

The reason that the cel only sometimes comes on is because your EGR system is only designed to function between 2-3k rpm i think. So the only time that the ECU will be checking its function is after the engine has come to normal operating temperature and the engine is revving between that range.
