I have an opportunity to buy some used mods for the Prelude locally. Here are the details and I need your opinion on them, whether they are good quality for the application and if it is a good deal. The seller is flexible if I buy more than 1 item.
- Greddy PE exhaust (looks like the evo one kinda) $250
- AEM Power Pullies Comes with all original parts including belts $120
- B&M Short Shift Adapter $45
- Neuspeed Sport Springs $100 12k miles
- KYB AGX Adjustable Shocks $250 12k miles
- Megan Racing Resonated Test Pipe (New in Box) $30
- Iceman cai $50
- Front pair of Prelude Vtec cross drilled rotors $15
I am really intersted in the the exhaust, springs, struts, CAI, and rotors. Any experience with any of these parts?
I would go with the Greddy exhaust, the springs/struts combo, and the CAI. When it comes to the rotors, thats something you should buy new because they may have heat spots, out of run, etc..

why not spend just a little bit more and find a used short shifter from Forbidden? i'm sure somebody on here has one laying around somewhere. i love mine!
how much are the pullies and belts new?
I agree. Exhaust, suspension, and the cai are what I would get. The rotors would be pointless, and thats something you need to buy new. And the short shifter wouldn't do anything for you... and I actually here people not liking their aem pulleys. So stick with stock.

That's very true, a lot of vehicles come with a bit of negative camber from the factory.
I'll pass on the test pipe then, thanks for the heads up on the negative aspects of it.
It looks like I'll just end up going with CAI and the springs. I just don't know if it will drop it too much at 1.7". What kind of springs/drop do you have on your car, Peter? It looks really nice.
The holy grail for preludes is koni yellows and ground control coilovers. But if you don't have to deal with harsh winters, those springs will be just fine. And you will love the AGXs.
I have read about the Koni's and GC. However, I don't think street driving warrants as nice or expensive a setup.
I have had terrible experiences with KYB in the past, but only with their GR-2 line and I vowed never to buy KYB anything every again. I am a bit wary of trying a used strut setup as well. I can get you in touch with him if you like.
Would the Neuspeed sports pair well with some Tokico blues? Or is that strut not made for a lowered car? We don't have harsh winters here so that's good.
I would make sure they are not blown, and just get the AGXs. $250 isn't bad considering they are 400+ new.
And you can get Koni/GC setups for 600ish I believe. And trust me, totally worth it for the street. People that say that are the people that have never driven with them. Trust me.
I see, I was under the impression that setup was closer to $1000. $600 is not a bad price. Maybe I'll wait until my stock struts go (should be anytime now 85k).
I am looking into suspesion myself, first I was looking at the tein type flex but many people say that they are not good. 95% of the people have recomended the GC + koni. So what spring rates would work very well? I have a 4th gen, i do alot of autoX and next year might go for some road racing as well. The car is also street driven, but i am willing to sacrafice some comfor for performance.
i'm on neuspeed koni yellow + gc coilovers with 450lbs f/r
i wanted it to be a little stiffer but i need to revalve the shocks. i don't think that kit allows you to choose your spring rates btw.
and to the question about tein flexes. they are good coilovers, but don't expect them to beat gc/koni setup. there are shock dynos on hondatech detailing very expensive full coilover shocks (buddy club, tein flex, jic, d2, etc) against the konis. konis won w/o a revalve.... just fyi

Thank you for the info. What do you use your car for? (auto-x/ road race/ dd)
