If I had to shell out a bunch of money I would go ahead and get some real power and the lovely noise of a bov when shifting.

A superchargers bypass valve is far from quiet when shifting, too.

i guess the biggest problem with supercharger is that for people that wants real power, turbo is the way to go...a supercharger only gives you about 60% of the power as oppose to a turbo...plus it runs through a belt and the engine will heat up faster ...i'm not saying that a turbo doesnt heat..but a supercharger will just do it faster...besides when is the last time you've seen a supercharger make it to the 9s

i dont think that putting an aftermarket turbo in a factory NA car will do any good for reliability. im sure that a supercharger has negative effects as well, but they require less maintenance than turbos....

i'll give up some speed for reliability... one more for supercharger

SC, good power, nice and linear, less upkeep than a turbo.

well for both...with the proper build up, it is actually less headache..you have to do it right and build the car the right way and it wont give you any problems...

I think he's talking about V8's. Most of them running below 9's have S/C's. S/C's uses the engine power to make more power, and a turbo uses waste to make power. 4cyls simply don't have the mass power to turn HUGE pullies on a S/C as a V8 does. Turbos are popping up more and more on them though. Vipers, Stangs, F-Bodies.
Turbos=more power, less reliability
S/C=less potetial for power, more reliable
My dad runs a 144ci Blower on his Charger, and it's never given him a lick of trouble.
