Thanks Mark, just what I needed to hear. The previous owner of my car got the mirrors painted, so I constantly wax them in hopes of keeping them from fading. It just doesn't make sense to me why wax would actually cause your PAINT to fade more...

No problem Tola, as long as they have been painted keep them protected with wax and remember to polish the whole car with a quality polish (not a glaze) at least twice a year so the oils are replenished in the paint. I use Meguires polish in a dark red bottle and let the polish sit there for a minimum of 30 minutes so the oils have a chance to absorb. Then remove it just like you would any normal wax. This step really brings back the shine and color in a red car.

Unfortunately, if your car is already " very pink" in color, the only thing that will cure it is a respray. I've heard of some people using a product called Brasso (brass cleaner) on red cars which "they said" removes the oxidation stuck in the clear coat very well but I'm not going to try a metal polish on my finish.

Ummmm.........I am no little kid, please watch how you phrase things in the future because that is a very CHILDISH thing to say.

For the amount of work I had done it is a good price.
• strip entire hood
• primer hood
• repaint hood
• strip both front fenders
• primer both front fenders
• repaint both front fenders
• remove both door handles and repaint both doors
• remove both side mirrors
• paint both side mirrors
• fill all holes in front bumper caused by the Wings West mold
• sand front bumper and refill once more
• primer front bumper
• paint and install front bumper
• shaved badges off and primer side skirts
• paint and install side skirts
• primer rear valance
• paint and install rear valance
• install and wire JDM headlights
• removed 8 dents from passenger door
• removed 2 dents from driver door
• removed 4 dents from drivers front fender
• removed 2 dents from hood
• removed 2 dents from rear drivers quarter panel

All moldings and misc, items (mirrors, handles, etc.) were removed prior to painting to avoid any overspray.

The shop owner painted the car and was unhappy with the way it came out so he sanded it down again and resprayed it the following day............the sign of a quality shop if you ask me! There are no imperfections in the paint or the clearcoat.

Ohhhh........I forgot to mention that I have a lifetime warranty on all the work and the Dupont paint, YES, IN WRITING.

While at shows, people comment on the paint all the time such as, "it looks factory," and "I could never tell."

Again, please think before you post.

Dark colors tend to fade eariler then other colors...

Red, blue, black, silver, brown and dark green dont do so well. Something about how the paint is made to fit smog regulations (yes, clean air bs) makes it not last as long ans lighter colors.

if u say so for $3000 I could of easily got my entire car repainted, mold the kit, fix all the dents obviously, and will have enough $$$ left to do it all over again
I don't know where u from, but down here in MD for around $1800 u car will look like it just came out of the factory.

Please don't give me that bull ****tt about life-time warranty, all the shop here guarantee their work 100% and put it in writing. The owner did u car WOW, then I guess u must b special unless he has no1 else to do the work which would probably be it.

It’s a good job, but way tooo overpaid.

I'm glad that down in hick-ville everything is less expensive when compared to where I live.

If you can get a better price on body work, I'm happy for you.......I really am, but why do you have to come on a web board saying that I got rapped? Does that make you feel better than everyone else? You should be very proud of yourself. I'm happy with the final product so that is what matters to me, not what you think.

I talked to the owner many times before I decided to have the work done and he assured me that it would be show quality and agreed to do the work himself to ensure that I was happy. He has been in the business for 20 years and restores Corvettes so I knew I would be happy if he completed my work.

As for the warranty, it is very rare that a shop sticks by their work around here so to me a warranty is an extra bonus.

If you don't mind, please get off my sack and let me get on with my life.

Mark

when it comes to paint jobs, you get what you pay for. A friend paid over $4500 to get his car painted, and it looks incredible. I got mine painted for $2000 - and it looks, well, pretty good I guess.

I agree, you get what you pay for. It's amazing what some of these show cars look like when up close. You can tell who paid more than the other.

Thanks for backing me up

Mark

I didn't want to jump in, but I'm sick of reading all of your BS. If you can get YOUR car painted to less, then go do it. If you already did, then great. We're all happy for you. He never asked you for your opinion on the price or anything for that matter. So what he pays for it shouldn't be your concern.

You are the one who seems to "have no clue what MD is all about". I've seen "MD paint", if you call stretch marks, paint droplets, etc. great quality, then you have a serious problem. If you talk to "93si4ws", he'll tell you what he didn't like about his $1k "MD" paint job. I've also seen cars painted in PA and NJ, some good, some sucked ass. But I have yet to see a $1k-2k paint job anywhere that is show quality. Also, why do you keep bringing up "MD"? Should the location of the body shop really matter? He got his car painted and fixed for $3k and he's happy with it. So why can't you just STFU?

Thanks for speaking up Tola, I appreciate it. I have no idea why someone would come on a web board to single me out for no good reason at all. Someone asked what I paid to repaint my mirrors and I was trying to break down the price for him.

It's not as if I told him he had to go and spend the same amount of money as me or had to go where I went, he just asked me a question.

If you can get a good deal on body work then more power to you. I didn't have a hook-up, maybe you do, but I certainly did research before I made a final decision. I work hard for my money and I felt like this was a good deal for the quality and my area.

As long as you are happy with your paint job and I am with mine, that's all that is important. I hope that you and I both get many years out of our paint jobs with no complaints.

I hate to argue with anyone, so please just watch what you say and how you say it especially on this board. We all know eachother fairly well and I would hate to see any conflict in this community that we have built.

I wish you the best of luck.

Mark
