Ok, so at around 160K miles on my 94 prelude. the Engine finally decided to take a crap one me.. It was burning a GOOD amount of oil for about a year before it gave up the gusto...
ANYWAY.. I got a JDM H22a from Japan Direct engines.. and got it installed... WHAT can I do with the old engine?? Is is realistic to part it out? THe intake, alternator, power stearing pump pulley are all in good condition.. I dunno about the head?? I think that a rod or piston when BLAMO ..in the engine.. so I dunno if the head is still any good... ANy input??
with a blown engine.. pretty much your entire bottom end is gone.. as far as th head goes.. with that many miles on it.. all the parts are very worn.. the springs are losing their tension and the valve stems will be showing signs of wear.. not to mention you will need to re cut them if they are to be used again... as far as the cams.. the journals are probably shot as well.. metal shavings on machined surfaces aren't good.. but one thing that will be good is the valve cover.. you can prob sell that...
intake manifold you can sell along with the fuel injectors and rail, you might think the assessory pumps are good but without takign them apart to check clearance.. 160k of wear is still 160k of wear
not sure how much you goign to see in return.. but i would just keep those parts as a "just in case" kinda thing
I would be interested in the block and the head, i dont even need the cams, all I want it for is so I can mock up some parts im designing for my supercharger kit. I dont need any guts at all just the bare block or head , I would keep your starter , alt, ac, etc for spares if i was you. let me know if we can work something out, you can even have it back after i get the parts designed if you want.
