Oil pan, pump questions...

Back in March I ran off the rode and dented up the down pipe, oil pan, etc. I drove home with the oil light on. And right before I got home the car died. No knocking, just one little scraping sound for just a second. So after months of my car just sitting around I finally got a chance to look at it. We found out the engine will turn over. We took the spark plugs out poured a little bit of oil in each cylinder, and carefully turned it over. Sure enough the pistons were moving around (up and down). So we took the oil pan off. It was dented in a couple of places. The oil screen/strainer looked a little rough. No I have never seen one before so I have nothing to compare it too, expect that it looked odd. My question would be this. If the engine is not seized up, what could be preventing the car from starting? Is there some safety switch that I need to reset? Could my oil pump be bad? Any suggestions on how to check to see if the oil pump is functioning correctly?

Anyone got an oil pan for sale?

Do a compression test. You might have done a lot of damage runnning without oil.
