Oil out of the distributor cap!?!

Well bringing this car up to par has been a long process,
and I'm happy to say its pretty rewarding fixing all the little things
in the car.. . just fixed the AC as a matter of fact and it feels great .. but now i have a problem w/ this distributor..

There is large amounts of oil in the CAP.. coming up through the housing, I emptied it out previously and now its got oil in there again, i can tell because i wipe the bottom side of the Cap and distrib housing since its covered in oil.. and sure enough a week or so later its got oil deposits on it again, not to mention the tranny case has some as well.. What could cause this problem? If its a bad distributor i just want to be a little more sure that it is so i dont get this problem after buying a new one... or can i fix this problem without getting a new one?

you all have been very helpful in getting my car up to speed, now just gotta get rid of the smoking, and the PVC System malfunction... but that'll be a little on down the line.. thanks again.

There's a seal in the bottom of the distributor and it's blown. Here's the number off the seal:

NOK BH3888E 15.2
a good transmission shop or seal supply house should be able to hook you up.
You'll have to take the distributor apart and pull the seal out, but it isn't so hard.

kevie,

hey you think its a job i can take on, or should i let the tranny shop or seal place take care of it?.. i'd like to get this fixed ASAP.. i'll probably start working on it as soon as honda gets that seal in,, is it the little gromet at the very end of the distrib? . . the one that connects to the camshaft?.. man, but the oil is considerable.. i'm thinking this might be what causes the car to smoke.. hrm..
