im sure you guys have heard this already but i work about 20miles from my house which is like a 15mn drive on the highway. whenever i keep the car past 100mph for the majority of the trip and i come to a stop my oil light comes on. last time this happened the oil light would come on at idle and flash in gear. i recently did an oil change with 5-20 and the oil levels are still good so idk what it could be. and ideas?
i looked around and it looks like a huge pain to remove, anyone think they could hook me up with a simple DIY for changing an oil pump? and could it be anything else cuz if im driving speed limits the light doesnt turn on

in order to change out the oil pump you'll have to disassemble the entire front (timing) side of the engine. you'll do better off downloading the .pdf Honda Factory Service Manual. that's what i did and that way you know you're doing everything according to spec.
BUT; you may want to start smaller. try replacing the oil pressure switch first to see if that clears it up. My oil light came on once and it was because my oil pressure switch was bad.
lol when that oil light comes on, usually it is a sign of an internal pressure loss of oil. this can occur in many ares of the engine but te ebearing mains are where it will happen first. Between the balance bearings and the main bearings, usually one of these will fail after hard driving or often running low on oil. i once had jdm engine that the oil light was always on, i thoughit was switch so i got down and tested the pressure and it was 18 psi at 3000rpm. The engine would run fairlly well also, but the vtec wouldnt engage. Turns out the third bearing ont he left balance shaft had failed and caused the balance shaf to seize, strip the balance belt and then jsut sit and be useless. Needles to say, i bought another, checkied it right away and moved on. Sicne then i nicknamed the oil light " the your hondas fukked light".
Also it is not very often a honda oil pump will fail, although ih ave seen cases where the two gears inside teh pump and started to come apart. As it turns out some of those gears were faulty form the factory.(this was one a civic with b16 byt he way).
If the pressure is low though the first thing I'd go for is check the pickup, pretty common for them to get clogged with sludge. Still need to start by checking the oil pressure and not buying parts.

turns out my bearings are bad. along with that the part that holds the bearings was worn down by the bearings themselves moving around causing the low oil pressure
Could have been saved if you were smart, stopped driving it the second the light came on and properly checked everything. I've had an oil light and saved my engine, shut the car off the second it came on and had the car towed from the side of the highway, a clogged pick up was to blame after putting the engine in, did lose the rear balance shaft though but oil pressure is good and I just don't use the balance shafts so no harm really done.
