oil leak and squeeking sound

sup guys. since i just recently got my car, i have been learning all the pros and cons of it. so, to get to the point:
1. oil leak- leak between tranny and engine, whats the best way to get this fixed?

2. squeeky noise- ok, so me and a friend just did a good ol' look over of the car- and i noticed my power steering nuts and bolts were loose and one was GONE! anywho the main thing that got our attention to this was- everytime i start my car up there is this rediculous annoying squeek and everyone says it comes from the general area of the power steering. i was wondering if anyone else has/had this problem and also what you experts think would fix this thing.

please help me!

1. I have no idea and I think i have the same problem

2. belt might be too loose or the bearings inside the pump are shot. also could be the alternator and a/c compressor belt thats loose or possibly the compressor pulley bearing thats shot. try tightening the belts or you might as well go all out and replace them.

does the squeaking go away after a while?

how many miles on the car?

i had that squeeking probelm for a while, but magically it went away...the only thing i can think it was, was the belts...maybe one got some **** on the belt and made it slip a bit till it burned off or something...other than that, i have no idea!

#1. Probably your rear main oil seal. Possibly could be the distributor seal leaking and the oil is running down, but if it's only on the bottom of the tranny/motor, it's the rear main.
#2. More than likely, one of your belts is loose. Does it squeal in particularly when you turn the wheel or when the A/C clutch engages? That could help you pinpoint which belt is the squealer....

Not trying to purposely highjack, but since this is 2 weeks old I'm posting my question instead of starting another thread...

My belt squeaks horribly during cold start-up for about 3-5 seconds and then just stops. Won't do it if engine is warm and I start it up. This is without a/c being on but it will sqeak while turning or just staring from a traffic light if the a/c is on. Do you think this is just a loose accessory belt? If so, how do I tighten it. CAn it be anything else?

Preyluder72:
Did you get your problem fixed? Again, sorry if I highjacked. I'm assuming you got yours fixed by now and I didn't want to start another thread

I think I can spread some light

1. Your oil leak could be tranny fluid also check the axle seals and see if fluid is coming from the axles where they go into the tranny.
Could also be coming from somewhere up top like suggested before check your valve cover gasket good start also the dist seal in the inside is notorious for leaking check and see if there is oil on your cap if so take it apart rotor button and cover and see if oil is coming from the rear of the dist. Also do you have a 5sp or automatic great way of telling if the rear main seal is leaking in a 5sp is the clutch will sometimes slip depending on how bad its leaking also check the inspection cover for the clutch and see if oil is coming from there if it drips from inside could be rearmain seal.

2. You said you were missing bolts for the ps pump that could be the prob right there. make sure there isnt too much slack in the belt or if it whinning like said before sounds like bearings gone and or seal inside it gone. But check your belts for the squeal like said before and make sure there is enough tension on the belts say like you can twsit umm hallf way with your fingers with a little friction behind it.

Hope I helped out if you have any ?'s pm me or email me

heres some ideas

sometimes also the washer on the oil pressure switch gets old and starts leaking check to see where the leak is coming from. Another big one is the oil cooler seal that one seams to have a tendecy to leak after a while. Hope I helped you out with your problem.

tightening procedures for your belt

first of all check the crank pulley for any signs of wear int he groves and check condition of your belt also check the deflection to see if there is too much slack.
Procedure to tighten loosen belt okay all the tensioning bolts are on your alternator first loosen the 14mm on top of the alterantor too where you can finger unscrew it then below it is a bolt that goes through a plate that has a long ass 10mm used for tensioning it loosen the 12mm nutt on the bolt first then you will see 2 10mm bolts loosen the longer one that has the little plate that the bottum through bolt goes through and that will loosen it to tighten it just turn it clockwise until you get the right deflection swich is about twisting the belt a 1/2 way with a little bit of force but not alot. after that tighten everything up and see if your noise goes away. Belt dressign works also.

tighten the belt. loosen the bolt holding on the alternator, then screw in the 10mm adjuster bolt untill the belt feels snug. then tighten the main bolts back down. should fix the squeeking. mine did the saem thing cause the adjuster bolt was broken in my car. replaced that and no more sqeek. yay!

my car leaks oil too, but its on the other side near the main crank pully. anybody have any ideas on this?

Not a belt

My vehicle had the same squeaky noise when it started up. Take your fingernails and drag them accross the full leangth of a chalkboard for 2 seconds and that is the sound it makes. it is a very metallic metal agains metal screech for a second when the car starts. then it is gone. a week later. i spun a bearing.
