Oil Drain Bolt Question

What is the exact size of the oil drain bolt for a 1992 Si 4ws (just in case it's different from the VTEC models)?

I did a search and all I found out was that you use a 17mm socket to take it off. I figure this doesn't tell the the size of the bolt threads themselves..

I looked it up at hondaautomotiveparts.com and they claim it's a 14mm bolt. (no. 29 in the diagram)
Cylinder Block-Oil Pan

The thing I need to know is, whether it's a 14 x 1.5, 14 x 1.75, or what...

Anyone at all, help would totally be appreciated.

Thanks!

i always use 17mm, but mine is not 4ws though, so i dont' know if there's a diff. but you can always just buy a set of wrenchs, you'll need to use them anyway in the future

It's not a matter of which wrench to use...I have tools.

The thing is, last time I had my oil changed, the shop messed up by not putting a washer on the bolt. I take my car back to them..leaking oil, and they "fixed it", or so they told me...

The leak was gone, so I foolishly assumed that they did the right thing and gave me a new washer. WRONG! They took out the bolt entirely and replaced it with this strange universal wingnut drain plug bullsh** (if you've ever seen one of these, you know what I'm talking about)

Needless to say, I've learned my lesson and am changing the oil myself this time. I figure, as long as I'm at it, I should replace the ugly wingnut thing with a proper drain bolt...only, I would like to do this over the weekend, as school and work won't let me do too much during the week.

Enter Kragen Autoparts. They've got 14 x 1.5, 14 x 1.75, and possibly 14 x 1.25 drain bolts in stock. I wondered if anyone knew the proper thread size so I could avoid buying all three and returning two later. But, it looks like that's the best option right now.

Thanks for the input though,

!@#&^!%# wingnuts...

I don't think this will be much help, but I took my OEM plug into Autozone and was able to find a magnetic drain plug that worked fine.

Why all the fuss over $1.00? Are you that worried that someone might call you collect for 20 minutes?

LOL...thanks for putting that into perspective.

I called the Honda dealership and it turns out they stock the proper bolt (2.89$) and washer (0.60$) so I'm going to run by on my lunch break today.

Dial down the center...
