OEM Fogs n' Hids (need some clarity)

So I've heard of people putting HID's in their fogs... I've heard of people wanting yellow fogs ... and people wanting just normal bulbs in their fogs..

So, the whole reason I want my fogs is because theyre oem and poop on you who dont have em and also I wouldnt mind being able to light up the road better.

I have 9005 in my low beams right now ... its sorta bright ..

But whats with all the ebay sites with 135W HID xenon bulbs that are 9006 (with like 5100k ratings)... True HID have a ballast don they? so will these bulbs just plug and play like artificial cheap-made HIDS that run super hot and might melt my wires and just plug in play in my car?

Or are they made to be used with a proper hid ballast ...

Now for the fogs.. If I want super bright hyper white fogs ... What should I do for bulbs? ..

What would you do??

oh yea .. i have oem fogs now .. THPT! (CF covers on order)

PIAA Xtreme White H3 Bulbs if you want a super white light fog light. You also dont really need HID lights because you can get a nice set of JDMs and put in a really good H4 bulb like the Piaa Xtreme Whites. I had to take out my PIAA fogs and H4 Xtreme bulbs because they were too bright for my eyes

If you want yellow fogs, then JDM yellow fog lights are the only way to go.

I got clear USDM fog lights, but I use PIAA Ion Yellows, and they look really great!! You just wont have a yellow lens like the JDMs, but at night u wont tell the difference.

You can tell the difference between JDM yellow fogs and clear fogs with yellow bulbs. The yellow bulbs emminate more of an orangish color while the yellow lens emmit a sharp yellow color similar to the Lexus. I have a set of clear fogs at home and I had PIAA yellow ions in them. I bought a JDM yellow fog set, and it is so much better. Just for giggles, I am going to put a set of PIAA Xtreme white fog bulbs in so that the yellow really stands out.

those bulbs on ebay arent really HIDs... i mean for real... $20 HIDs?

they only advertise them as that because of the color that they emit.

(relating to headlights)
Yeah that much I know ... So they are some sort of a super white PIAA with a hid tinge color to them ...

So are there any lights that say "HID" that are of quality, or that say they emit 135W of power? Mine rightnow I think are 120 and I beleive they are PIAA superwhite ... even still I think the range and brightness leaves much to be desired.

9005 and 9006 bulbs suck ass. I am telling you that if you upgrade to JDM headlights and get some good H4 bulbs, you wont be dissapointed

To answer your HID question into the fogs, I don't think you'll be able to do that because the HID bulb is much longer than a normal bulb. And from my understanding, you don't have that extra length space in an OEM fog housing to house it. Plus you'll have to attach the ballast somewhere else, not really worth it.

Your best bet is to get some PIAA bulbs, they light up the road extremely well...

You won't be able to put H4s into a USDM headlamp housing because it was not ment to fit in it, they have different ways of holding the light bulb in place. I guess you can do it the ghetto way, find a h4 harness and somehow glue/tape/screw/drill the thing into your headlamp housing (not a great idea since if you do it, the vibration will most likely brake the filment).

So if I order JDM 1piece's, and they come stock w/ H4 lights.. do I need to modify the wiring harness or splice wires etc?

You can just slice and splice the wires together... or better to solder them together...
