an odd question

4ws ended as an option after 92, correct?
EL clusters weren't available until 94, correct?

So why does my EL cluster have a 4ws light??

Because Honda was trying to cut costs. If you redesign the gauge cluster you have to have new machines... blah blah blah. So it is embedded in all of them

Just my opinion of course.

that was my first thought as well... BUT...

my stock 93 Si gauge face and the 94-96 (i think 94) Si EL gauge face aren't identical. The backs of them do not look the same... the translucent patterns are different, etc... ( i guess the cold cathod tube light emitted requires different pattern? who knows)

point is.. they obviously re-designed the gauge face itself, so why leave the top right corner '4ws' area translucent? they could easily have blacked it over like the majority of the gauge face. Of course the light would still be there since it is built into the white plastic housing of the gauge fixture but you wouldnt see it.

i dont know.. just rambling and wondering.. sometimes i'm too curious

i'm doubting they left it there just in case those with 92 4ws equipped cars could do the swap

1994 was the last year for 4WS and 1994 was the first year of EL gauges and redesigned interior.

I have looked and looked for a EL cluster w/ the 4WS light but I was never able to find one.

I really want a VTEC 4WS EL cluster, but it is only avail in KPH from Japan or Aus and im not sure it would fit in my USDM dash.

couldnt you just relocate the 4ws light to one of the empty light spots on the dash?
