O2 sensor on exhaust

yep.... another nooby tech question. I cant get the damn 02 sesor off. It might help to tell you that its on a crappy pace setter downpipe... (idk if that helps or not). Is that big nut that u have to use a wrench/vice grips the way to losen the sensor? The Helms doesnt contain on HOW to take it off, and i dont wanna damage it, and you guys are my only tech people i know thanks in advance

The O2 sensors normally get stuck. You may just need to get a bigger wrench. I suppose you could try some liquid wrench (or whatever brand you prefer). After that, if you don't care about it, you could try a torch. If that doesn't work, you could just throw your downpipe away and get a new one along with a new O2 sensor...hehe. Otherwise, I'm not sure there is too much else you can do. But I would definately try a longer wrench..... get some mechanical advantage on that thing.

Or use my dad's cheater technique that works like a charm, but sometimes can give you a gashed knuckle or finger.

Do this;
- Make sure the closed end of the wrench is around the thing your trying to break loose (02 Sensor).
- Have the wrench sit like it were pointing to the '5' if it were a clock hand and you were looking at it from the front of the car.
- Take a 2nd wrench and place it's closed side around the open end of the attached end. Lasso it around the right toothe of the open end.
-Now, on most wrenches the closed end is tilted. When attaching this wrench make sure it tilts back towards the left or it will not grasp the main wrench correctly.
-Now with your added leverage push until you blow a blood vessel.
>SEE IMAGE BELOW for help. I know it's kinda ghetto but it explains better then words. GOOD LUCK!

another option is removing the downpipe, then removing the o2 sensor. It makes it alot easier to manipulate a wrench/get leverage. it may seem more time consuming but it may be easier than fighting with it on the car.

good luck.
