Nut and Thread Question - Front Axle

Can any one tell me what size and which way the thread goes on the nut that secures the front axle to the hub.

I am trying to undo this so that I can renew the lower ball joint but am failing badly, two spanners and socket broken already!!!!

36mm and they are threaded like every other nut and bolt in the car. They're pretty damn tight sometimes

As stated above, 36mm front, 32mm rear; ltry loosening the nut while the car is on the ground. You may have to remove the wheel, pop out the center cap, re-install the wheel, then try it again.

The easy way is with an air gun.
