i never knew but since the day i got the car my rack had bad seals and the boots were ripped in 1/2. i just put a new rack in and replaced the tie rods and damn these cars drive great haha. its kinda sad i never knew that it was bad before but better late than never
I like how you managed to swap in a JDM H22 in but never got around to fixing the steering rack, I see you have your priorities straight
Yeah, I have always loved how well my car handles, sometimes it seems to be riding on rails. It will be evn better when I drop in my nice M2B4 tranny that I got today
Have fun and don't get too crazy.
(thread to follow, "I just understeered my 'lude off the road )

it said to take 4 hours to do but i got the rack down in about 45 mins and then had a hard hard time getting the old tie rods off bc i needed to use them for a day until i got the new ones. it took me about 2 1/2 hours to do not to bad but helped that i had a friend helping me
yea, mine have been torn since i got my lude. I have been wanting to replace the rack but i thought it would be too expensive. Theres alot of little things that i need to do but before that i needed to finish building my exhaust. haha

I got my rack for $120 after core charge. The tire rods I got new for $37 each. Mine was leaking from the outer seals which is basically the same thing you have kinda. I had to drop my exhaust only because I didn't want to disconnect it but all you have to do is drop the down pipe instead. Then I took off the rack valve body shield, disconnected all lines (4 of them), unbolted rack mounts, dropped cross member (bar in middle of car under engine bay), unbolt the bolt that goes into the steering boot (where steering column meets rack), took off left tire rod and then pulled rack out. Also I had to disconnect shifter cable because I have auto. It's about a 45 min. to hour job.
I can get the racks for you for you guys for about $180 shipped and cheaper if you can get me core somehow. Which is still $50 cheaper than I found at nearest auto store.
