I recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a Milano Red 2001 Honda Prelude Type SH. I LOVE THIS CAR! I just want to let all you 4th Generation owners that your car is the car that got me into Preludes. I started driving in 1992 (When Generation 4 first came out) and my best friend bought one as a leftover in September. It was a Frost White Prelude Si with an Automatic. I love the wedge shape, the seats, the dashboard, The way the Tach swept back & forth to the redline in a long and sweeping motion, the seats were comfortable. The handling was incredible & even the 2.3 I-4 with 160hp & an Automatic got was definitely quick enough. My friend drove the car until it had 100,000 miles and had no problems with it. He sold it just 'cause he wanted something bigger.
Another one of my close friends I met in college had a Black 1992 Prelude Si (One of the first ones brought into the country) with a 5 speed. The first time I drove that, I was shocked at how much faster the Stick was compared to the Automatic. Beautiful car! He drove it HARD for 160,000 miles with no problems!
When the VTEC engine came out in the '93s I wanted one so bad. I wanted the Azure Blue-Green VTEC Prelude. The bigger engine just added to the beauty of the car. I finally got to test drive one in 1996 and WOW! What a car! I wanted a 1996 VTEC, but was in college at the time and didn't have the money for it.
I looked for a lightly used 1996 VTEC in 1998, but couldn't find one that wasn't modified or wasn't black (I love the black, but don't want to take care of it).
Finally for my 4th car (1. 1992 Chevrolet Beretta GT, 2. 1998 Ford Explorer Sport, 3. 2000 Saab 9-3) I found a Prelude Type SH and I'm so happy with it! I just wanted to let you 4th generations owners know you've got one of my favorite cars of ALL TIME!
haha...tight...it's a cool feeling knowing we all got sweet ass cars hehe!!! I like both 4th gens and 5th gens. The 5th gens look sooo classy when lowered with rims and a light tint job *boing* I just couldn't afford a 5th gen 3 years ago when i was buyin my lude '

Thanks for the compliments! In my experience, it's not often that a 5th gen owner gives props to a 4th genner. I'm glad you bought a beautiful car for yourself. Enjoy it!
The Prelude is an awesome car; some definite drawbacks to Honda's decisions concerning the car, but you have to love the car, no matter what you drive. When I was looking to buy, I chose my 93 VTEC (Brittany Blue-Green Metallic; I have the original 1993 brochure) over an Integra, a 300ZX, a Probe GT (blech!), and a Mustang. This was a year ago, and I have no regrets. When I graduate, get a job and get rich (and that WILL happen ), rather than buy some European sports car, I'm gonna take my current Prelude and totally mod it to be a true racing machine. That's my dream car.
I totally love the Prelude. Sometimes, though, I look at the faster machines (300ZX, Mustang GT, Camaro), and I wish I had that kind of speed. I know that, realistically, the Prelude isn't an incredibly fast car, and that sometimes makes me think. But definitely not enough to change my mind.
The thing about the Prelude is that it has a style all on its own. Everyone and their mother drives an Integra or a Mustang, and the Prelude's uniqueness stands out. I live right by an import motorsports workshop full of Civics and Integras, and their customers and employees are always staring at my car as I drive by and park my car at my house, eyeing it as soon as I turn the corner and come into view, right up until I step out of the car and stare back. Some of my friends have told me that the guys there ask about the car, if I've modified, etc. Everywhere I go, people check out the little green/blue Prelude. A lot of my buddies who own domestics (and hate Acuras) love the Prelude. It's just a cool car. I've never had anyone tell me it's a 'ricer,' or anything even remotely bad.
I don't know what to think of the 5th-Gens, I love the shape of the car, but the headlights are a real turn-off. I couldn't get over those. But it is a very sleek machine, a definite step forward in Honda's design. The interior is a great improvement. And ATTS is supposed to be pretty cool (though I've never driven a 5G).
I'm only sorry they hadn't tried to give it a faster engine, something pushing 230-250 hp, at least. If it could have competed, speedwise, with the Mustang GT or the Camaro, it would have been an incredible car. But new, 195 hp for $22,000, I'm not sure it would be worth the cost.
Well, that's the end of my rant. Props to Honda for making such a stylish sports coupe. I hope the Prelude returns, badder than ever.
Yay YAYEEEEEE! I have to say that, even though my girl owns a 5G, hahahaha. The more I look at her car, though, the more I want to buy one to compliment my 4G.

Anybody want to buy my Lude? (Will sell in either stock or fairly modded trim).
I don't have anything to drive! This summer I'm saving up for a 4g prelude, I always just thought, I gotta save this summer and get a 92 lude, just cause it's the oldest 4th gen. prelude, so I could probally find the best deal on it. But now I'm concidering taking a year off a school just to work and save some serious $$$ and buy a nice 4th gen prelude. So I can figgure that much out, but now really need some help picking the year!!! I've been checking out this site, http://prelude.vtec.net/gen4/specs/changes.html to look at the specs. I think I like the '94's and later because the backseat change, that's important! Also i read the dash is illuminated beter, but I really don't know! I could use all your imput on what year is beter and why, to help me with my upcoming choice. Thanks!

(right now i've been driving a '94 F-150, it's nice and all (4x4 and knobby tires are fun), but it's so high and slow! I can't stand turning so slow in it, i need something a few inches off the ground and tops out at 140! Every time i can, i hope in my brother's 3rd gen prelude and it just feels like a race car (compared to the truck) i just can't wait to get a prelude!)
What year are those cars in the picture? Is the 5th generation a Type SH (I can't see from the picture)? Is the 4th Generation a VTEC or 4WS (I can't see from the picture, but I assume it is a VTEC)?
