Notchiness while shifting?

Stupid question time:

In all gears, I feel and hear a "click" whenever I shift into a gear, I can tell this isn't normal. I feel a little resistance whenever I shift into any gear, does anyone have any idea what this is, and how to fix it? Would changing my trans fluid help?

I have Forbidden's short-shifter, but somehow I don't think that's the cause, nor do I think it has anything to do with it.

EDIT: Oh, and when searching, I saw some posts saying that the "notchiness" is good, but this is too notchy, I can literally hear some clicking going on in the engine bay whenever I shift...

I hear clicking when shifting into Reverse but not the other gears. hows the clutch? how many miles on the tranny? Does it do this for all gears?

Yup, all gears; it's the original transmission, so 103k miles on it, I'm not sure how the clutch "is"... as far as I can tell, it works fine; that is to say, I never have trouble actually engaging a gear, it simply sounds like it's clicking. I'm not mechanically inclined, unfortunately.

Almost every stick-shift I've ever driven has had that clicking sound in Reverse... weird...

the reason the reverse clicks is because there is no synchro for reverse... that's why every car you drive has it, it's not a problem. As per your clicking in every gear... try replacing the trans fluid, may be low.

Hehehe...I just might. And yeah, I thought about LFW, but I work every weekend, so no dice... I wouldn't mind meeting the faces behind the screennames...

Check your shift linkage cables. Cable shifters like ours do inherently have some notchiness, best word for it i think.
