Not enough gas to motor?

Hey guys, having a problem with my car. Its a 92 H23a. I drove my car to work the other day, and it was the first really cold day. It drove just fine. I went out to go to lunch and tried to start it, and it would fire. I checked for spark, got it. Checked for fuel, didn't have it. So I bought and replaced the fuel pump, and a new sock for it. Got the fuel pump in and now it still wont start. I am getting fuel to the rail, but it wont run unless i prime it a couple times. Even then, i can get it to run for a min or so, but as soon as i touch the gas pedal, it dies immeadiately. Anybody had this problem or have any idea of what i could do? I gotta get this thing out of the parking lot at work.
Thanks in advance.

Will the main relay cause this? The car is getting gas. Just doesn't seem like its enough. I can hear Tue clicks and all and if I put my hand on it I can feel it clicking.

No.

Main relay is all or nothing, it either works and the fuel pump gets power or it doesn't work and the fuel pump gets no power. There is no in between with the main relay.

OP, is your CEL on? Have you checked to make sure your timing is still right?

had this happen many times only reason it runs for a sec is the built up pressure from a good prime i bet it wont run for more than 10 sec trust me open it up and resolder it

wrong broken solder joint causes intermittent starts i have 4 relays sitting right here that i have repaired. I keep them as spares corrosion heat or cold usually kills them good luck

even though its clicking doesn't mean its working. jump the pins directly and see if it will start

okay, i took out the main relay and gave it to a friend and he's gonna resolder it for me, i dont trust myself to do so. lol. I haven't checked the timing, but its hitting just not starting. Ill double check that tomorrow. Here's hoping its the relay. If this doesn't work, you guys have any other ideas of what to check? I miss my car...

You need correct fuel ratio, compression and spark. Check all three

I'll say it again, if you have fuel pressure at the rail, the main relay is fine. Leave it alone.

Did you check to make sure you didn't jump timing?

You also never answered if the CEL was on or not. That would be the best place to start.

alright, got the car started and getting plenty of fuel now. Ended up needed to replace the fuel filter as well. Still having a problem with the car. Now it will start and idle great. I took off to take it for a drive, and i got to a stop sign, and it idled down, and it died. I thought maybe it just needed to get pressure built up. So, I turned the ignition, and it started back up. Took off driving and it died again. It will die anytime it comes to a low idle. Ive tried to give it gas to keep it going, and it acts like im not even pushing the pedal. Ive noticed it only starts on the 2nd try. When it dies, the CEL isnt on, and it doesnt give any codes. Could this be the throttle position sensor?
