My friend just did a swap in his lude and he got it running but is having a few problems.
1. No speedo (due to VSS)
2. Code 17 (VSS) 3. No Vtec 4. 6700 Rev limit
5. No Power stearing (No belt)
He had an H23, it had 240k so he swaped for an H22a, shifted from 3rd to 2nd blew it, got a new long block and installed this one himself. So its the same tranny, ECU and all that. What could be the problem with no vtec and the 6700 rev limit?

1-4 are all for the same reason - no VSS. The ECU won't engage VTEC as it's not getting a suitable (fast enough) signal from the VSS. Power Steering (after you replace the belt!) may also be affected, as it's weighted in accordance with the speed.
Could have something to do with the VSS like CDR mentioned but the main culprit is the H23 ECU.
That ecu is not programed for VTEC. The H23 does not have VTEC so how can it switch to the VTEC cam profile if it was never programed to?
It's common sense, he needs a P13 and to fix the VSS.
I'm not sure why he only got the longblock if he had an H23 before. Longblocks are for people who already had that particular engine. The longblock does not come with things like the upgraded axels which are a good idea for H22A's. Honda engineers wouldn't have designed the VTEC model with stronger axels if they weren't needed.
haha. Thank you for clearing that up Andy. He has the VSS, its just in wrong or not all the way. I watch Jason put it on.
The first time he got an H22a swap it was the FULL swap with ECU, and everything. This time he just got the long block. We're not THAT stupid to now know that the H23 ECU wont' run (well at all) with the H22a. lol.

I read that yesterday, it looks like a nice car for $6500. Do you have emissions testing in Kansas? If you don't I think that car has your name all over it.
I am definitely keeping the jeep. I'm really excited about this winter! Kansas is very liberal about emissions. I just talked to a friend that bought a yukon out of state. She said it was a ten dollar fee and took all of 1 minute. I think I'm set to go there. I'm nervous about flying out there and driving the car back.
