No start - Honda Prelude Forum

Hello,

A friend just gave me her prelude. Its a 1992 Si A/T. H23A1.

It has been sitting for awhile but I have decided to work on it. I had it hooked up to the jumper cables to start it, all it did was "Ting ting ting ting". She said the torque converter is bad, another friend said it was the starter. Before I rip it apart I want your opinion.

go under the car, locate the starter, hit it with a mallet a few times and then try jumping it again. Have another person tap the starter while you are turning the key in the ignition. If you hear the sounds change a bit and getting closer to starting then it's definitely the starter that needs to be changed.
