Next power mod...

I have a 4g h23. I have I/H/E/Pulleys and am looking for a little more power while Im n/a. I plan on going turbo in the future, so I am wondering what would be a good power mod to do that will not be obsolete when I go turbo (as my I/H will be ).

I was considering a light flywheel, but would rather hold off on that until i go turbo, so I can do it with the clutch (my clutch has quite a few more miles).

Have you considered a nice ignition system or cam gears? These will both help you a bit, now, but will be even more beneficial when you start boosting. If you tune w/ the cam gears correctly, you can gain a few hp. Immediately, the only thing you'll really notice about the ignition system is perhaps better gas mileage (like I do every week). You could also get a head-package done.

Anybody want to buy my Lude? (Will sell in either stock or fairly modded trim).

Would a head package help alot on turbo? I wouldnt be revving higher w/ FI cause i dont want to blow anything. Would I be better off just getting my head P/P and saving the money, or would a turbo car actually benefit from the better valve train?

port and polish job will help with the turbo. . .anything to increse airflow is your friend. I doubt an upgraded valvetrain would help if you are only boosting at moderate levels.

does anyone know what a good P/P job will cost on the head and intake manifold?

That with a nice throttle body should add a bit with FI. Does anyone know what kind of gains this will give while n/a?

Don't forget to get everything port matched when you do PnP.

Yeah. I figured they would do that normally if I had them PnP the Intake Manifold, and head.

With the TB, should I get it Polished; or just bored out? Also does that need to be port matches, or should I just get that as large as possible?

Also, what kinda of power gains am I looking at, what kinds costs, and where in the RPM band will i usually get the power?

if yur going turbo. i would go ahead and do the entire ignition system. the whole shibang.

And start prepping for it.... start getting the fuel system together... of cource you cant really go w/ a high flow fuel pump or anything, but go ahead and get a fuel rail, and fpr, and gauges, stoich/fp gauges... That way when you get the turbo, just gotta either a) upgrade fuel pump) or b) injectors.. or both..

Thats what i plan on starting to do now,i WAS gonna get headers, but im holding out on that, just gonna prep the engine and slowly start putting stuff on that i know i will need.

Crate, how many miles do you have on your engine? I'm at 84k, and I'm just trying to get an idea of what others are at, who are going FI, just to see if I'm wasting my money or not. I'm planning the bottom end build-up now.
