The newest incident with my damn car.

I no longer have reverse. And fifth grinds like a b!tch. I hate her now. She has been nothing but bad luck. And I have been so good to her too. I've wanted that damn car ever since I was in 7th grade. I buy her two years ago and she does nothing but f*ck me over.

LONG- but please bear with me.

I bought my car in March 2000. Four days after I buy her, on April 1st (april fools- HA HA.) I get T-boned and my car's gone for 2 months. Almost $7,000 in damages. I get her back, and a month and a half later, she spins a bearing. She's down for over a year. I completely rebuild the motor- I mean EVERYTHING is brand spanking new save for the pistons. Brand new clutch, everything. She's been running for a little over a month. She had a horrible oil leak, now it's very minor. My fluids seem to be evaporating for some reason, I am constantly filling them up. Two nights ago, it would not go into any gear except second, and I have to literally PULL it into that. I refill the clutch fluid, which mysteriously disappeared, she's fine until I leave work tonight and realize I don't have reverse anymore. I yank it in after trying to ease it in for about 5 minutes, and the sh*t won't come OUT of reverse. WTF. I had to shove it so hard with both hands to come out of reverse I about broke my damn elbow. I quit bothering to put it into fifth, I just get pissed everytime I hear that horrible noise. I'm so sick and tired of this sh*t.

It is a 94. She is in pristine condition. I just painted her San Marino red, and got the JDM's put on. The interior is flawless. (Leather- she's H22) There are 2,000 miles on the motor. How much do you think I could get for her. I paid 10K. I bought her with 94K miles, and now the odometer reads 103,xxx, but as I said before, the motor has 2K and the paint job has about 400 miles on it. I think, my dear friends, I am going to move on up to a fifth gen. Opinions, please? I'm so sad, but I really cannot take this anymore. Sorry for the long ass post.

It's a 94 VTEC. I'm talking about the JDM headlights, but I also have the JDM front dash speaker, and the amber sidemarkers (not installed yet). They look amazing with my all amber turn signals. I traded my stock ones to get the all amber ones. I have CAI and GReddy Evo exhaust. The head has been slightly milled. The front lip, side skirts, and mudguards are painted San Marino red also.

The blue book for your car in good condition is $6515. So you tack on another grand or so for your mods, and thats a good private-seller asking price i believe. If you take it to a dealer, expect more like $4,600. You'll probably make more money parting out what you can, along with selling it. Thats just my $0.02.

We did.

UPDATE- My fvcking transmission is leaking oil. Badly. I have no idea how. It never did that before. Everything is brand new, all seals and gaskets, EVERYTHING. I'm seriously fixing to give up on this car. If it's not one thing, it's another.

First of all, i think we now know who is afraid of there powertools and who isnt. Second of all, you're more likely to make more money parting it out, than selling it whole. When you sell a vehicle modified, they only give you a common value for your mods, irregardless of the price you spent on it. My last car i was getting $25/ech shock+spring and i was sitting on eibach prokit with tokico blue's. Which we all know arent $25/ech for either one, let alone the combination. They also only gave me $200 for my complete tsunami body kit (worth $1100 new). Now if you part that out, i could of easy gotten $800 for the kit, being it was brand new and undamaged. Now if you compare all the 'added moneys' to what my i was offered for the car, i would of came out + in that particular equation.

back to the topic, If i was you, i would keep whatever you can from that car that you want, and get another 4th gen. Maybe this time, you can play with something else. Why not play with boost or some n2o or something

Ya bro but listen in this case, i dont have my old parts so i'd haft to spend money bringing the car all back to stock for me to sell it making it a huge hassle, and no im not afraid of powertools also because dealers woulnd't give me that much more on the car

I had to get rid of my '93 si about two years ago after I dealt with the freakin clutch for months. I had the ACT street disc and the heavy duty pressure plate and it worked fine for about two months. Then Winter arrived and when it got relly cold outside the pedal started getting all mushy in the mornings and it just would not shift into any gear unless I pumped the pedal 5 or 6 times and then it would be stuck on that gear until I killed the engine or pumped the pedal again afew times. Warmer weather (40+ degrees F) seemed to affect the car less but I was still having issues going into 1st , 2nd and Reverse. I traded her in for my '96 VTEC and it turns out that the delaer put a factory clutch back in the '93 si before selling it and all the problems disappeared. I actually know the dude who bought the car and he's had no problems at all. H lives in New Mexico and he drives back and forth between Dallas and Alburquerque all the time with no problems.

so I would question again if this is a Honda reliablity issue or a defective aftermarket part issue....

as far as your leaks. go .. I think that they can be cured easily. where exactly is your oil leaking from? did you replace the rear main seal while the tranny was out? what about your cam seals? Also, did you torque everything back to specs when putting the engine together?

Yep, all seals were replaced. Everything was torqued and then checked an additional three times, no joke. I'm anal about my car, everything must be done perfectly.

Has anyone had a prelude for a while with out some sort of bad luck. I don't think most people have it as bad as you. 1 month after I got my car I got a little front end damage($6800) and the car was in the body shop for 3 months! I had an a/c line come off on the freeway and it spewed all over the header and made my car smoke like it was gonna explode. Thank god I made it to the shoulder fine. Then driving to Santa Barbara for a concert from Palmdale(2 hours) my alternator stops working and dies about right at the show so I was stranded in Santa Barbara. I hope the next owner has better luck then me.

So Amy what type of car are looking to get? Around here in Cali vtec's go for a lot more than 6500, more in the ballpark of 9-10k.(not saying that all are that much)

Hey Brendon! Hmm, what kinda car do I want....Well, in my dream world, I want an FD sooooo bad. BUT I am just dreaming on that one. Maybe when I graduate. Now, however, I really want to stay with a Prelude, but newer, so hopefully I'll actually have a reliable car, you know? I Looooove 4th gens, but I'm leaning toward maybe a 99+ Lude, just because it's newer, and if I'm lucky, maybe somebody got the extended warranty or something. I'm also considering an A4. I really want the S4, but I'll settle for the A4. I really don't want to get rid of my car, but she's leaving me no other option.

But even if it is a lemon, it shouldn't still be, because everything is brand new? I dunno, man. I'm going crazy diagnosing all these problems. I'm about to say screw this and get something I can count on.

with all the money you've spent on her... I'd say just keep her. Once you get all these issues worked out you'll be ok. Do you have any pics of your lude? I got a paint Job on mine back in May
