Newbie Trying to learn some stuff bout one hell of a car.

Hi,

I recently bought a honda Prelude 2.2 DOHC VTEC, I think its a 94 Model, but its definitely a 4th gen. The enginge model is: H22a - 1042207

However, this was a direct japanese import so every little note or description is in....japanese. Which is making a few of my repairs very difficult.

I have the following problems with it:

Smashed back bumper (getting it stapled and painted and put back on)

3 headlights not working out of the top 4. (had a look at fuses, nothign wrong with them, suspect the relay.)

Cruise control does nothing, again checked fuses, no problems there. A bit stuck on this one.

Realy bad wheel alignment at the moment, (the back wheels even hop when cornering a little too fast, leading to many a spin out) But getting new 235/40/17 Bridgestones to fit my 17" MAK alloys and Ill get it all totally aligned when i get the tyres.

Falied to mention that I live in a small southern african country called Zimbabwe. Some of you might of heard of zimbabwe as its currently the laughing stock of the entire world.

Driving a low sporty car with tubeless low profile tyres in this country presents big problems like avoiding half metre deep potholes and sometimes skidding round in mud. The prelude acctualy handles relatively well in muddy conditions, even though most of the power is put into sliding the car the right way.

Anyways. What Im particularly after is an english manual with diagrams in english. This would help me out a heck of a lot with the electrical issues and perhaps help me mod some forced induction on it.

Specs:
Metallic black with blue sparkle
Silver one way mirror tints
2.2 VTEC DOHC
5spd Manual
17" MAK alloys silver
currently 235/40/17 Yokohama's
3inch BOSAL exhaust
4 6x9 sony xplod's
1 12" Pioneer 800Watt sub
800w Amp

Things Im adding slowly:
Body kit
Kitana Paintable wing
Cold air Intake (Weapon-R)
Brembo brake kit.
Sparco steerin wheel
Blue halo headlights
exhaust fume igniter
In-car PC with 7" touchscreen, bluetooth keyboard and wi-fi
15' rockford fosgate sub with 2500w monoblock amp.

Im planning to slowly get the engine ready and capable of taking a turbonetics T3/T4 turbo. But this is very long term plan.

check out:

Andy's Auto Sport - Body Kits and Carbon Fiber Hoods Superstore!

Found a ton of prelude parts and mods.

Any help with the english literature or any suggestions would be most welcome, Im relatively new to modding up cars and would greatly appreciate any help!! Nice site, nice cars!

wow that is freaking cool. Where you are from, not the car problems, sorry lol. Don't think we have anyone on here from africa. That's pretty damn cool they have preludes running around there haha. Post pictures indeed =D

Sorry not too familiar with the cruise control on our cars heh. Also what do you mean 3 headlights out of the top 4 aren't working? Alignment you'd have to get done at a shop. Do you have one locally? Sorry, I am very ignorant about african geography and what they actually have going on over there as far as gov't and culture. I'm assuming you guys are a british colony? If you guys have a Sear's there they'll do it for you. Should cost around $40 us dollars to do, not sure how much that translates too over there.

As far as a manual, the best thing out there is a Helm's manual. It's very detailed about basically every part in the car. You'd probably have to find it on ebay or someone to purchase for you here in the states and then send it to you internationally. I don't think helm's ships international?

For websites, most people use Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store as far as here in the states for OEM replacement parts.

Good luck and post some pictures

Wow, first off, thanks so much for the replies, Im very glad to see this site is very active. Thanks a ton for the download link to the english H22 manuals. Might take a little while to D/L on our "blazing fast broadband" (being very sarcastic, we have max 128/512 here....)

Will definitely post some pics, will try get a few of the car on some of these dirt roads filled with potholes.

Yes, there are tons of potholes, mainly because we have such rampant inflation about 15000% so the government has no money to repair the roads.

Also, this time of year is our heavy rain season, which also leads to the potholes just getting bigger and deeper. We joke about drunk drivers being the guys driving straight and the ones swerving to avoid potholes are the sober ones. Ive seen some potholes that would just swallow the nose and front wheels of a car theyre so deep and wide. Quite a spectacle.

Yeah, I actualy live in harare, the main city here. I have looked around quite a bit here, getting the allignment sorted this morning so Im hoping its just the alignment and not possibly a bent chassis or worse..

Well, will have some pics up by tomorrow, internet allowing. Thanks again for the info guys!
