Newbie exhaust questions

Mind my ignorance but I have found it difficult to find information on the 4 gen prelude exhaust system. Diagrams, sizes, integration of different after market pieces.

So the plan is DC headers, stock cat, SS mid pipe, Injen Muffler.

My questions mainly apply to the sizes and compatibility.

What is the DC header out put size and the stock cat input size (2.5?) and would I need an adapter to fit the two?

I am also trying to find a stainless steel mid pipe, like a cat back but with out the muffler seeing as I will be welding an Injen muffler on to the end of it. Seems like I cant find just a mid pipe without buying a full cat back. Any ideas? Would using the stock pipe effect sound/performance much?

The muffler input is 2 3/8 or 2.375. What in gods name is the stock mid-pipe size?

Sorry for all the questions that might seem simple to you novice Luders but as you can see with my lack of knowledge and these scattered numbers I have been having trouble connecting the dots reading countless forums.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. how much you looking to spend total?

2. your best bet is to just buy a catback (made for the prelude), a decent header (not DC), and a high flow cat. All will work if you just keep the stock size.

3. If you want to spend just a tad bit more (or even the same in most instances), just buy a decent header and then get a custom bent piping all the way to the muffler of choice (pending size). Ask your local decent exhaust shop for options or buy kits from kteller.

Thanks for the input petern101

Price isn't too much of an issue but practicality is and this is my daily driver so I am more concerned about getting the sound I want opposed to sharp shooting hp gains.

The custom piping from Kteller would run me $245.00 and they wouldn't ship it overseas anyhow so that doesn't work out. Plus all I need is the mid pipe. I have no local exhaust shop either.

If I can manage to find these details out I could work with my current options.

Why are DC header not "decent"?

^it isn't much better than stock actually. So you're paying money for the same thing.

Not one of ya's can give me some size details? What are the stock sizes of the 96 prelude si exhaust system?

How is it possible with search after search on the internet and with the only free service manual that I can't obtain this information? Now the principle is bothering me more than actually wanting or needing the information.

Whoa!

2 3/8 is the stock Inner Diameter of the exhaust.

if you feel so inclined, remove your cat and measure the inner diameter of the collector and the ID of the exhaust and quit *****ing that no one is helping you

Well at least you went out and did your own research.

I have an oem manifold sitting out in the garage for fun. I could have measured it but seriously, why would I be so inclined too? Especially with that attitude.

Dude! Are you serious!

You guys sound like a bunch of egotistical girls. A lot of you cats on here just hover over forums and wait to attack unsuspecting newbies for no reason at all. I have read hundreds of tuner blogs in the past week. And let me tell you preludeonline has the least helpful people with the worst attitudes.

I was expressing disappoint with the fact that there is a lack of information on this particular exhaust size on the net. WHAT ATTITUDE? I was stating fact!

Go clean of your panties. No one cares how much you know unless you are helping the cause!
