New Toys for the Lude Finally!

Hey guys, just thought I'd share some good news. It's been a year I think since I got anything for the Lude. I got the "bug" again once me and a friend (with an RSX-S) went to the track.

I got an Exedy Organic clutch coming in tomorrow along with some other little things to go with the install (rear main seal, cotter pins, etc.) It's not going to be installed until summer starts though, plus I need to save up a little to get the ACT Streetlite flywheel.

I also got a GReddy SP2 coming in Monday. I'm planning on installing the exhaust next weekend. I'll try to take pictures along the way.

I can't wait!

I'm not sure if I can get a soundclip. I have an old Hi-8 camcorder, but then I don't have a video capture card. I could get my friend to bring his mp3 player I guess and record a before and after.

Also, my stock exhaust actually has a tone kind of. I'm running my stock exhaust with a resonated test pipe right now (eBay "high flow cat").

I wish I had a DV camera.

Sweet! Congrats on catchin' the bug again. What happened to going with the Fidanza? I thought I heard you said you were thinking of going with that flywheel. Maybe not.

What happened with the RSX did you beat him or something?

I was thinking about the Fidanza, but I want to give the ACT Streetlite a try. It's chromoly like the JUN and not "too" light.

Usually during the school year my hobby is computers (building and gaming). But, this year my friend got his RSX-S. I helped him drop it and we went to the track together a few weeks back. That just gave me the bug again.

I only got to race him once, I ran a 12.44@86.77MPH in the 1000ft. He ran a 12.9X@85 or 86ish MPH. Racing him just makes me want to keep modding before he gets hondata and runs away from me.

STick with it, keep modding & tuning, and beat his Paseo, I mean RSX (I think they look a lot like Paseos, hahah).

Got my exhaust installed today. Took me 1.5 hours doing it all by my lonesome. My pops watched while I did the work. Wasn't too bad. Did it in our carport, with a 3 ton floor jack and some stands. No bolts gave me any trouble because my pops has a pretty high-end air gun that took care of everything.

Pictures are full size, so just add .orig.jpg to the end like usual. Well, here they are:

Some tips for anyone else one to do their own exhaust. Have a can of WD-40 handy, this is the easiest way to get the exhaust hangers off. At first I tried using a screwdriver to pry it off. That was a no go. Spraying WD-40 made ALL hangers slide off easily. An air gun is nice to have for rusted bolts.

Overall, I am VERY satisfied. I love the sound. It's very nice sounding, not ricey at all even with the test pipe. VTEC sounds amazing!!! Made me fall in love with my car all over again.

Oh yeah, anyone know where this goes? I did a search and some said it goes at the cat connection. It doesn't exactly fit though and there's a gasket there already anyway. I just left it out. Any idea?

^ that does go inbetween the cat. and the pipe, IIRC it goes in along with another gasket. Mine didnt exactly fit, but its a little louder without it i think.

Is it supposed to seat into anywhere? Or do you just kinda stick it in there?

I had one of those types of gaskets when I installed my old Thermal. It fit between the cat and the mid pipe. There was kind of a groove the it sat in but I never could really get it to seat properly so I just manuvered it in there and tightened down the bolts to hold in between the flanges. I never heard any kind of leaking from that connection. If it isn't leaking now with the way you have it mounted I'd guess you re-used a gasket that came with your test pipe? Either way, if it doesn't sound like it is leaking I would toss that on the work bench and forget about it for now
