New To preludeonline and ludes

Hey i just bought a 1995 Prelude Vtec and am picking it up on Tues. My last car was a 1990 Crx Dx. It was a great little car it just a little on the shaky side and eventualy died. so ive saved for the last year and am looking forward to owning another honda.
My lude is lightly modded and i dont intend on doing much to it. Looking to get to know some of you veteran prelude owners and finding my mistakes. will try and post pics tomorow

woo another 4th gen owner. How many miles on the car? What has been done with it already? Def nip all the little tune ups in the beginning if they haven't been done already. Enjoy her

Its got about 150k miles on it now. Im not sure what has been done recently. What would be a good list of things to get done now, like tune ups

It would be a good idea to do a timing belt and water pump, unless you know it's been done recently.

Water pump is ~$60, Timing belt ~$25

Unless his belt is new, I would just go buy a new one. In case you aren't aware, it is an interference motor, which means if your timing belt breaks your valves will hit the pistons and ruin some valves, possibly the head, and maybe even a few pistons. So that is one area you want to make sure and have quality parts on.

Another reason to buy new is if the belt were to break prematurely you could take it back to the place you bought it and possibly get them to file a claim to have your car fixed (huge hassle). If you are going to have a shop do the work, let them buy the parts. It will cost more because they will mark them up from what they pay. But if you have a problem you take the car back to the shop and they have to deal with any warranty/compensation with their supplier (best and easiest way). If you buy the parts and take them to have installed, the shop doesn't have to help you get anything and will charge you to do the job again.

Nice clean lude dude. That's how mine was when I got it. Park far away from everything....seriously. There have been two hit and runs on mines since I got it and it's only been 3 months. That's my advice for you.
