New to Prelude, Question about 94 vtech

This is my first post because I just purchased a new to me 1994 vtech, red with black leather.
The car was purchased from the original owner, it has 91k original miles on it.

I am new to preludes, but a friend told me that the vtech was a pretty rare model for the 4th generation.

How do I find how many were made, or is there anything I need to know about the car.

The paint is original and in excellent condition, I do have some fading on the mirrors.

The only thing I know it needs right now is the bulbs in the climate control are burned out, not sure I can replace them myself, I have been looking on here and see it can be done, I will keep searching.

So, are these cars really that rare? Thanks very much. I look forward to learning more each day as I read on this forum.

I wouldn't say vtec's are "rare"... but thery're definetly harder to find than a civic vtec, or the like.

Most people that have a vtec prelude have swapped the H22 into their Si or S model. Sounds like you got your hands on a nice ride, especially with under 91k. Some things to keep in mind though:

1. Buy a HELMS manual.

2. Ask original owner if timing belt has been changed... with 91k its about due.

3. www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is your best friend

4. Don't be afraid to ask questions

5. Don't be around to SEARCH first :P

6. Please don't rice out your are :P Prelude's are too nice for that mess.

7. Enjoy your stay!

they are rare but good conditon 4th gens are rare, typically the vtecs were raped and abused so its easies to find the h23 si and do the h22 swap, as far as the climate control goes, i thought it only came on the jdm ludes so if thats true thats a good find, also only 91k original is a nice find!!

^^^I'm sure he meant the regular climate control unit. You're thinking about the JDM electronic climate control unit. Every prelude has a climate control unit and yes usdm ones tend to burn out and not light up and the soldering connections are also an issue.
