New the forum & new to Preludes

Well i picked up a 1995 Prelude last week and let me just say, it is by far my favorite car i have ever owned.

Its a black on black VTEC with 87,000 miles on it.

Anyways i had a few noobie questions...

First off, the car has a greddy header and downpipe that goes into a full catback apexi exhaust.

Its still got the stock intake system, i plan leaving the stock "arm" on , and just extending it a couple inches with some piping (sprayed black) and adding a K&N/AEM/some quality filter on the end of it.

This should yield me the same results as one of those expensive AEM intakes right?

Aside from the mods i have now, are there any others that arent to crazy that i might want to look into? Keep in mind that the car is daily driven so no turbos or anything crazy like that, im already happy with the power it has now just wanted to see if theres any other mods i should look into.

EDIT:

The filter i plan on going with:

AEM Short

or

AEM (Long Neck)

I would just get an ebay CAI or short ram, they are only like $30. Beyond that you have the basics down.

Im down with the ebay CAI idea, and if you wanted to squeeze some more hp out of it you could get cam gears, buy a VAFC and get it dyno tuned

daily driven? I'd also go with ebay CAI... you get (close to) the same results as an expensive one. And since you're not looking for a crazy fast-go car, it's your best bet for the price... and dresses up the engine bay a little. It will also balance out your intake/exhaust, since you already have the nice exhaust setup.

Other than that, i'd stick to what you have. They're the easiest mods and they've been done for you already.

And since you're new to preludes, let me give you some suggestions that i think EVERYONE here will agree with:

1. Don't get a ricey body kit
a. If you get a body kit, stick with the WW lips. its sleak, classy, easy to install,
and less amount to paint
2. Don't paint your interior panels hehe.
3. Altezza and clear tailights = terrible
a. if you do a tailight mod, check out the LED conversion writeups, or smoke
them out by using model car tint spray. Looks real nice on a black Lude.
4. Search Search Search. Almost every topic on PO.com has been discussed, numerous times. So do a search before asking a specific question. You will find your answeres at least 6/10 times.
5. Finally, WELCOME TO THE PRELUDE COMMUNITY!!!

It's so sad that just cause i own a Honda now people feel a need to point these things out . But thanks for teaching me on how to dress my car. Heh never had that advice given to me when i owned a dub =/

But ya, i'm not into the whole "extreme look". I like my car the way it is

Honestly, the Wings West RS front lip is the best front lip option for us 4th gens, imo. But imo, painting ur stock side skirts, get a cheap accord rear lip (junkyard) and paint it, and then one of the accord front lips (ebay, $70?) , and its just as sexie as one of the $500 body kit options. But it will keep better lines.

If you are happy with the power, look towards making it more luxurious...clean interior well, maybe pickup a headunit and some decent speakers. Also, while u r at the junkyard, look for a 5th generation glass sunroof, it was the best $40 bucks I have ever spent on my car. And it was very easy to install.... Other then that obviously JDM 1 pieces headlights are a must...

But welcome to the club

Got any pics of the kit installed? I did a quick google search but didnt find much.

And about the sunroof, thats actually very helpful to me, im getting rust on the top of mine and that was one of the first things i wanted to get replaced. Is it a direct fit?

Oh and one more thing, ya i like those 1 piece JDM headlights also I seen these on ebay. Anyone know anything about them being that there not real stanleys and all...

The 5th gen sunroof fits on pretty easy, but you have to just use the glass, and then use ur current brackets. You will have to drill 4 holes for the bolts to line up, it was a 25 min install for me... Install - http://www.superhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=213452

As for the RS front lip, they are everywhere. This is one of the best ludes imo, and he used the rs front lip, stock side skirts painted, and an accord rear lip. I am talking about the clay color lude like 4 down...

Those are JDM 1 pieces too, you want STANLEYS, no cheap ebay brand. gl...

Hmm not really feeling that wingwest lip i'd like something a little smaller, i especially dont like the sides of it as it is to "smoothe/snowplowish".

I know those other headlights are fake as i pointed out, but i do like how it has the amber corner, other then being fake is there a reason not to get these? I dont care if there not JDM as long as the quality is there.

dont know, i dont know of anyone installing those styled headlights. the only problems i see in getting them is water getting inside and fog build up on the inside. but a proper sealent should work to keep that fram happening.

try getting a Accord Type R lip. it looks like the lip above but doesnt go up the side of the car.

I agree with you on that lip, it really doesn't look OEM, it looks like what it is added over the bumper. The CF Spoon replicas that someone on here made a while ago would be a good choice but good luck finding one of those now...

I'm pretty sure there's not only Stanley that can do good quality headlights but I can't tell you if those are made by someone who can do good quality headlights.

Man, that was a hard sentence for me to read lol.... If you look around, a few people have bought those headlites. I mean, a housing made of plastic is a housing made of plastic right? Only thing that can go wrong is the seams...and maybe the outside finish...so just wetsand them, and bake/reseal them urself. Anything is possible if ur motivated enough. Personally I think the amber is cool on the corners, but only applicable on certain body colors ;o

Sorry, english isn't a language I use that much so sometimes I do write hard to read sentences What I meant is there is probably more than one company that can make good quality headlights, not only Stanley. But I can't tell you if the one you posted are good quality or not because I have never seen them.

Well after thinking about it, i think im gonna go with an eBay intake. I found this one that already comes with a K&N on it so i'll be good to go when i get it. One question though, doesnt the stock arm have 2 hoses that connect to it? This one only appears to have one.

Let me know what you guys think about this one before i go and get it. Thanks

eBay intake with k&n filter
