new to this forum and i need advice on if i should buy this prelude

hi everyone im looking at buying a prelude for a long time now and i just cant save the damn money for one. now i found a 93 prelude vtec and the guy only wants 1500 for it it only has 112k on it but the thing is that it needs one new fender but thats not the problem

the problem is that he pulled most of the head apart because he wanted to do a "valve job" and now the top of the motor is taken apart other then the acual head thats still on. the thing im scared of is buying the car finishing it up and trying to start then figure out it has no pistons or has a rod nok. i wanted to get ur guys opinions and ideas on how i can check the car in here so if u guys took the time to read this thank you for your responses in advance

My first question would be: Are you certain that a valve adjustment is the only reason the the car is apart?

If all it needs is a simple valve adjustment, then I'd consider it for $1500.

the guys said this "The car right now is in the middle of a valve job. It was running great and i had a brainstorm idea to just do it and get it overwith. Now, we are selling the house and i have run out of time to finish my baby. The car ran great before the valve job and if it is just put back together of finished, it will run great again!"

but idk if i should trust him or not like i said it could have a rod nok and i wouldnt know until i acually paid for it other then that the body of the car iss really nie with no rust

Meh. Since it's only $1500, what do you have to lose?

it depends on what you want to do with it. i race so when i was looking for a lude i didnt care wut was wrong with it as long as it has never been wrecked and no rust. so now i have done a weight reduction stage 2 on it and installed the racing seats with harness. eventually ill get the 22 and build it to maybe 450 - 550 hp depending on certain conflicts that may arise. so would you want it to be a daily driver, and maybe to some mods to it, or you wanna race it? it all depends on what your willing to do with it. I found my 92 si for 850$, no rust just alot of miles, and broken headlights.

Think of it this way... you could buy it for $1500 and pay a ton of money to finish the "valve job"... Or you could buy the car for $1500 and just swap the motor. Next problem: Finding a motor

i wouldnt think finding a motor would be that hard. as many online places that sell them, its basically which one is the cheapest from that point
