New Digital Climate Control Idea...

Okay people instead of getting the JDM Climate Control system, have ya looked at the Acura CL Climate Control? Here are a few pictures of it:

Now, instead of doing all that converting...maybe we could just use the LHD Climate Control and make our lives easier! Would it work? I mean, it should cut the work down quite a bit if anything. Here is a picture of the JDM Unit:

Well the hard part about doing this install is putting the air-mix control motor in which requires removal of the airbox as well as replacing the motor transistor. The actual install of the user interface is simple. It does look like you can use the CL's interface though and save some money as well as use it's wireing diagrams.

I agree, looks too big. Additionaly, as already mentioned, the hard part about the conversion is not a complication with the RHD/LHD components, so using parts from a USDM car wouldnt save much of a headache.

Yeah even if it fits it would still be as hard since there are no advantage of using that one. I mean you'd still have to install all the sensors, and the relay and power transistor for the blower and the air mix motor. The wiring part (the only part that would be different between the JDM and the CL climate control) is pretty simple.

Oh and while we're talking about this I saw my climate control fully lit the other day for the first time!! but now it's like before... the recirculation button doesn't light up and the fan/A/C/mode neither.... but they did lit up the other day so now I guess I'll have to find out why they don't light up all the time...

that's ****ed up. me and forbidden take the time to do a writeup, and then some ass monkey goes and makes money off of it??? maybe we can find out which member it is and ban him. po.com is the only place i posted my writeup.

anyway, forbidden i have the same problem as you. about 25% of the time it's fully lit, and the rest of the time the fan, ac, and mode letters, and the recirc button don't light up. i'm guessing it's a bad connection in the wiring or something. also my battery has all kinds of corrosion on the terminals and sometimes all power cuts out and i'll have to clean off the green stuff.

Don't automaticly assume that they stole YOUR directions, maybe someone else is just as ambitous as you are.

you could be right, maybe it's CAZ and he's short on cash or something. anyway, in all probability they took it from one of our writeups.

Those write-ups were never really "complete" though, were they? I mean, you still havent figured EVERYTHING out yet, right? You would have a lot of pissed of customers if you sold them incomplete directions. . .course I guess that wouldnt matter much selling over ebay. Try looking up the sellers email and see if it matches a members.

>Do you have pics to go along with the wiring diagram? also, what all information are you providing?
>--------------------

and the following information I cut&pasted from forbidden's website:

Parts

Here are the parts you'll need to get a fully fonctionnal JDM Climate Control.

Climate Control Unit w/harness (at least the connectors with a few inches of wire)
Probably the best place to get these is on Ebay. Or try one of Prelude or Honda board, most of them have some kind of Classify ads section. If you can get everything with the Climate Control Unit, like sensors and the like that's great if not I'll try to give you some hints on where to find the other parts.
In-car Temperature Sensor
On the right of the Climate Control Unit, it's a little square vent thing.
Outside Air Temperature Sensor
In front of the car, it's in front of the radiator and all that stuff I think.
Sunlight Sensor
On top of the dash near the windshield, it's a little square thing with a round in it.
Evaporator Temperature Sensor
This on is in the evaporator unit, where our A/C thermostat is.
Air Mix Control Motor
This is under the blower unit.
Blower Motor High Relay
This relay is attached to the blower unit.
Power Transistor
This is on the blower unit, it's what replaces the blower resistor on our cars.
Heater Valve and Solenoid
This is under your hood, the heater valve is on the water hose that goes from the engine to the heater unit. Try to get the whole system that goes with it. I have not yet figured out how it works but I'm trying to find a car to borrow the system from.

strange coincidence, all the parts are listed in the exact same order as forbidden's writeup!

red92s: if you combine my writeup with go pre's one it's pretty much completed. Though I did see someone selling the unit with partial instructions and there was a description of what was included in the instructions and it was everything I put in my write-up and in the same order.

I think we should let the bid go and email the one who gets it to see if what he got looks anything like our write-ups.

I agree .. I was gonna say the same thing thinking about it earlier .. e-mail the winner and have him get info on it first ..

its all too strange the parts are named exactly the same and in the same order. he may have modified it still but, to sell something that is otherwise distributed as free on here ...

tsk tsk.

i just put some parts up for sale on ebay to do the climate control install and was going to include the instructions to do it but after reading this i realized i got all my info from 4bidden and go pre so i cant sell it. i am not the guy you are talking about that was selling the instructions before. i just posted mine. it has been changed though. just selling the parts now. and no, 4bidden and go pre's instructions arent complete but they are close, i would do my own write up to complete the install but they wont let me :-( they did most the hard work so they should get all the credit. thanks guys
