new clutch

I just had a brand new Honda clutch put in my 93 Lude SI. I definately noticed a difference from before but it still doesn't shift as smoothly as I had expected. It still kind of grinds a little bit when I put it into 3rd and 5th gear. I don't really know what a synchro does but could it be this and how much does that job usually cost? If not the synchro, what else could be the problem?

Hey! MURPHYX232

How much is the clutch cost you though? How much is the installation though? Did you get install at Honda dealer or local shops? I probably need a new clutch very soon...I was thinking of EXEDY but still have not decide yet.

Thanks

Syncros are not cheap to fix. They have to pull the tranny to install. To see if its the syncro try double clutching when shifting into the gears that grind. If this fixed the grind your syncros are going.

I bought the clutch from a local Honda dealership and had it installed at a local auto repair shop. I am not sure how to double clutch while shifting into gears. Does that mean you press the clutch in twice before putting it into the gear? I am also interested in how much it costs to fix synchro gears and also the consequences of not fixing the synchro right away. Thanks.
