New bump stops?

I just got my tokico suspension kit (Tokico Illuminas and Tokico 1.5" lowering springs) in today. Can't wait to get it installed because I've been driving around on stocks shocks and EBAY coilovers for about 5 mths now, can't stand the ride anymore.

Anyway, when we installed the ebay coilovers some months back, we noticed that the bump stops were really torn up...in very bad shape. One of them seemed to even have disintegrated...I dont remember seeing it on one of the struts. I got the term 'disintegrated' from a friend of mine whos done several suspension installs on hondas/acuras. I didnt even realize that possible. The suspension had never been touched before, or at least I dont think it had been because I bought the car with 9k miles back in '98, and when we put the ebay coilovers they were stock shocks. I find this odd because I did a search, and notice even people with 93 and 94 ludes were able to re-use their stock bump stops after changing the suspension like 10 years later, and theirs seemed to be in good shape. My 'lude is a 95.

Where can I get new bump stops? I don't want to damage my new illuminas. Also, are they pretty widely available? Also, what exactly should I ask for.. Should I re-use the stick boots/dust covers? Any help would be appreciated..thanks in advance.

IIRC, they are expensive as f00k!

You could probably make your own from some old hockey pucks or something. Just drill some holes and cut it down to size. You just need to use pretty tough rubber for the job.

you can get Energy Suspension Bump Stops for the front and rear struts for less than $50

Just do a search. The ES Part numbers are #16-9101 for the front and #16-9102 for the rear. I don't know how they feel but i'm sure they are better than the disintegrated ones you have. Mine were the same when i replaced my struts. I remember a couple of times that rings of the bump stops would fall out of the cover somehow. I really should replace mine as well.

Still got those? If so, I'll take them if you're that nice!

Mine disintegrated too on my first suspension swap, but I have a 92 w/ ~167k on the frame.....

I just went to the junk yard and pulled good condition ones from a BMW. I sure you can find some from a Prelude in the junk yard.

I just installed mine also with some skunk2 coilovers, and during the install i quickly found out that i couldnt use the dust covers. I dont know about you guys, but after installin the front, i lowerd the car from the list, and with the adjuster all the way, the car sat with about a 6 inch gap !!!i just sat there and thought wtf. Then i thought about how the dust covers were sitting, and i and measured, they are about 5 inches long or so. I had to take everything back out and take em out. After all that, the car sat perfectly fine. So my conclusion was that it was possible to use those dust covers. I might be wrong, but when i saw the 6inch gap when i had them on, i was kinda shocked and since its the only thing i removed to make it sit right, thats the best conclusion i came up with. I only used the washer that goes around the shock.
