NEW BRAKE BREAK-IN?? Experts, HELP!!

New Brake Break in Question... HELP!

What's up, everybody? I just picked up my car after doing the Si/VTEC rotor/caliper swap, and I have a few questions. I've heard that I need to break them in for about 500 miles or so. Is this true? Also, when I press the brake pedal to use the brakes, I get a mushy feel from the pedal, and I have to push the pedal a ways down to get the brakes to react. Is this part of the break-in period?

Thanks...

shouldn't be that mushy..there is a break in period so you don't warp your rotors/pads.

Not...is it really mushy even at first..or is it only mushy after extensive braking?

basically, dont do any hard braking for 500 miles. this will help seat the pads properly.

Shouldnt feel mushy after the pads grab, maybe they need bled?

WHOA! Sorry, Marcucci. This is a matter of my life, if my f@cking brakes don't work right? I take my life seriously, and nobody responded for a while, so that's why I posted twice. Sorry for pissing you off.

What brand are the brake pads? Don't spend a lot on the rotor's and forget the pad's. You should always use new pads with new rotor's.

I'm using Hawk pads ... I think they're the HP-Plus compound. I guess they're still bedding against the rotors, b/c the pedal still goes further down than it use to.

Get someone to look at you're caliper and try to brake. Maybe something is loose or something bends. Also, make sure there is no air in the brake fluid. If there is a small bubble in it, the air will first be compressed, and after that the caliper will react. If you look at the caliper and there is a dead time untill the caliper react, big change there is some air in the braking fluid.

I was wondering how you manage to build the caliper in. Did you need an adaptor or could you just bold it on in place of the old ones? I thing a lot of us wants to know. THNX & good luck!

Just don't do really hard braking for a while(like a couple hundred miles).
