new alternator = problems

okay, i got a remanufactured alternator from advance auto parts. still had the tag attached saying it had been tested. 90 amp alternator. it's hooked up and i know it works cause i accidentally unhooked the battery cable with the car running when i was trying to tighten it. the battery just WONT charge. does the alternator just have to be broken in or may the battery just be CRAP from walmart?

yeah run by advance and get the battery checked, if it's bad make sure you don't have some warranty left on the wal-mart battery before you buy an advance battery.

okay, i got a new battery, then the starter wouldnt do anything except click. so i took it out, and pounded on both ends with a rubber mallet, and then put it back in, turned the key and it started like new.
