New 94 SI owner.

Just so everyone knows, I've been lurking around this forum for a while doing as much research as possible.

I just bought this kids 94 Si, with 124k miles on it. This is the first time I've driven a honda. It has a H22 swap in it. I've driven it twice so far, since it's not on the road yet I can't drive too far. I've noticed that when I accelerate the noise I hear sounds like something sucking in air. Is that the vtec? This is my first experience with vtec.

The kid said it leaked a small amount of oil. I've yet to get under it to see for myself, but after running hot I did smell burning oil. He said its somewhere above the exhaust, so I would assume a rear seal. I plan on doing some investigating as soon as I have time to get the car up.

While driving the ABS light came on, is that normal as well?

The springs were cut so the car sits about an inch from the ground. I bought struts and springs to raise it up, they only have a 1.5 drop on them so thats better than what it is now. I read about the camber being messed up if the car has any height adjustment, since it sat so low on stock I'm going to assume it should have an alignment regardless.

I'm really looking forward to driving this car. I used to drive a 99 Neon R/T and I treated the car like a baby, til the timing belt went and bent my valves ha. I can't wait to start working on this car and making it my new DD

Well my name is Matt, and I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me around here. Thanks in advance for anything and everything

P.S. - I will have pics of the car up as soon as I buy some batteries

1. sucking air = 99% sure it's the intake (of some sort) vtec engages after 5200ish rpm, I can't remember anymore

2. rear main seal or cam seals, either way replace both

3. ABS light is a big common problem, search or just live with it like I did

4. Get correct springs or brand new setup for cheap. Cut springs don't seem too safe

Ya I've already ordered some struts and springs to raise it up. There's a CAI going to the front bumper, which is going to be moved up next to the battery.

Ya I was hoping it wasn't going to be a rear main seal, but I have an old friend that drives preludes and he said to just replace it as well. :/

Well I have to get to work, hopefully I'll remember to buy some batteries. The car has some trim problems around the outside of the front/rear windshield, so hopefully some of the cosmetic stuff is easy to find on ebay/andys auto, or wherever else there is to go

i agree with the man above. sucking is prob an aftermarket intake. and as far as the abs light i just act like i don't see it. mine comes on as soon as i get above 10mph. and i agree change both seals.
