need your opinion on my exhaust

OK, I already tried the guys at honda-tech.... now its your turn

ok I made a little drawing, showing my ideas. the top one is the stock exhaust, the left one is idea #1, and the right one is idea #2.

First of all, note that both are center exit exhausts.

The main difference is the placement of the mufflers. I can go like a domestic, and have the muffler up under the car. After the muffler, run the two pipes back toward the rear of the car after passing through a resonator on each side, ending in a nice little tip sticking out of two notches cut into my WW rear lip.

OR, I can just put a resonator after the cat, and then run the pipe back to a dual N1 or some other kind of nice looking universal muffler hung in the middle of the car, sticking out the back in the same manner.

please post comments. thanks.

couldn't you just use a more conventional exahust system and have a custom bent rear section that would exit in the center if that's what you were after? I guess that's kinda what you would be doing with idea 2, but maybe it would hang higher if you used a standard route for the midpipe and just relocated the muffler to the center?

ha... no

the reason for a center exit is a straight pipe. Bending it in a circle would defeat that purpose. Plus, I think it would look good.

I figured you must be going for the look... If you just wanted the straightest pipe I think that the n1 catback system might suit that. You ideas are definately a bit more custom than most. Good luck with working it out. Definately post pics if you get something that fits well.

any idea how low the N1 hangs? I think my biggest problem will be ground clearance.

if you're more concerned about clearance problem...i would just get an aftermarket system from the start. Because from the looks of your idea...it looks like it will hang lower than an aftermarket system. Especially the one with the the muffler in the center of the car. There isnt much space to work with under there.

The reason why i say this is b/c i used to have a custom made system also and it hung too low. Now i got a Tanabe hyper catback and its sooo much better. The fit is bad-ass..it hugs the underside of the car very well. I'm lowered about 2.25-2.5" and i dont have too many problems with scraping. With my old custom exhaust i did. I also learned that an aftermarket system sounds way better than a custom made one with universal mufflers.

The N1 should fit pretty well too. My friend has the apexi dunk and it fits nicely. And the canister of the N1 is smaller than the dunk so less chance of scraping.

you got some good ideas though..good luck deciding!

With the exhaust going straight back, you are going to have clerance issues, count on it.
I like #2 minus the custom length header, and you can take out the resoator, all it is is a glasspack muffler.

Or you could get an exhaust then doens't fit and let it sit in your garage.

unless you want your exhaust at ground level, they HAVE to exit out the sides...you've got this big thing in the middle in the rear called a gas tank. Can't move that anywhere, and it's right in the way. The first one wouldn't work unless you could find a very small muffler, which wouldn't deaden much sound anyway. Good luck, let us know what you decide to do and whatnot.
